ABOUT HAA — HOUSTON ARTS ALLIANCE Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) is a local arts and culture organization whose principal work is to implement the City of Houston’s vision, values, and goals for its arts grantmaking and civic art investments. HAA’s work is conducted through contracts with the City of Houston, overseen by the Mayor’s Office of EXPERIENCE PUBLIC ART The Houston Airport System is fortunate to have one of the largest collections of public art in the state of Texas. Placed throughout the airport’s terminals and grounds, artworks include everything from sculptures to photographs, and are predominantly by Texas-based artists. The specific source of funds for City-funded competitive grants is the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT). HOT revenue is generated when people book hotel rooms in Houston. A portion of HOT revenue is dedicated to promote arts and cultural tourism to the city. HAA’s Civic Art investments are also funded by the City through separate, non-HOTsources.
IMMERSE — HOUSTON ARTS ALLIANCE Immerse raises critical funds for the Houston Arts Alliance and its work enabling artists and nonprofits to thrive in our community. Currently Houston Arts Alliance is supporting arts education through the citywide equity effort called Arts Connect, temporary public arts exhibits, and disaster resilience for artists and nonprofits.HOW HOT WORKS
The specific source of funds for City-funded competitive grants is the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT). HOT revenue is generated when people book hotel rooms in Houston. A portion of HOT revenue is dedicated to promote arts and cultural tourism to the city. HAA’s Civic Art investments are also funded by the City through separate, non-HOTsources.
