The bill creates the blueprint for a national high-speed rail network and calls for investing $205 billion in it over 5 years. TWIN CITIES TO CHICAGO INTERCITY PASSENGER RAIL PROJECT The Twin Cities-Milwaukee-Chicago Intercity Passenger Rail Project is accepting public comments until April 9, 2021.The project would add a second daily round-trip passenger train on the corridor with 12 stops along the route. The additional frequency would be integrated with Hiawatha Service and will provide more options for connecting to public transit and the bus network.WeTHE CHICAGO
This is a shared-use line linking Chicago and St. Louis. There are 5 daily trains a day. The 300-mile trip takes roughly 5 hours and 30 minutes. The Joliet to East St. Louis portion was completely rebuilt, with the goal of taking an hour of the current schedule. With what’s been completed so far, there’s already a night-and-day difference.THE CHICAGO
The Wolverine corridor is densely populated with some of the most dynamic and innovative businesses and institutions in America. It’s also home to one of the longest segments of publicly owned tracks in the nation. And it has the only trains in the U.S. running at 110 mph outside of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. MINNESOTA | HIGH SPEED RAIL ALLIANCE Projects. ZIP Rail: Rochester-Twin Cities. This proposed rail line would run 100 miles between the Twin Cities and Rochester at speeds as high as 186 mph. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is scheduled to finish a Tier I Environmental Impact Study (EIS), for 8 potential routes between Rochester and the Twin Cities, in 2015. The Dallas-Houston high-speed line that will open in 2026 is a key building block in the reinvention of the U.S. transportation system. As one of the first true high-speed lines in North America, it will not only create the backbone for a high-speed rail network across Texas. WISCONSIN | HIGH SPEED RAIL ALLIANCE In 2014, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) set a goal of increasing the Hiawatha’s daily round trips from 7 to 10, with eventual expansion to 17.
