HI is looking for a dynamic disability inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Specialist motivated to provide technical support to the SRHR project portfolio including the “Ensemble” project recently launched by HI in collaboration with CARE International in West Africa, with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada, and SOURCE: DISABILITY AND INCLUSION RESOURCES STOP BOMBING CIVILIANS Increasingly, armed conflicts are taking place in populated urban areas, where explosive weapons are being used on a massive scale, killing and injuring thousands of civilians.. Analysis over the last 10 years shows that when explosive weapons are used in populated areas a shocking 90% of casualties are civilians.In 2020 alone, 18,747 people were killed or injured by explosive weapons. DISABILITY STATISTICS IN HUMANITARIAN ACTION THE UK EMERGENCY MEDICAL TEAM The UK Emergency Medical Team (UKEMT) is the UK’s front line response to a humanitarian crisis overseas, such as an earthquake or tsunami. Since 2013, Humanity & Inclusion has been working to integrate rehabilitation into the UKEMT. PALESTINE | HUMANITY & INCLUSION UK HI has been working in Palestine since 1996 with a main mandate to support disability organisations. In 1999, the organisation launched an education initiative on the risks of anti-personnel landmines and other explosive remnants of war. ETHIOPIA | HUMANITY & INCLUSION UK HI works in Ethiopia to improve access for vulnerable people, including people with disabilities, to humanitarian services. HI SHOCKED BY VAST REHABILITATION NEEDS IN BEIRUT The two huge explosions that devastated Beirut on Tuesday have caused a range of injuries including burns, fractures and amputations, as well as thousands of major and minor injuries caused by shattered glass. HI estimates that approximately 500 people are likely to need physical rehabilitation to aid their recovery. But for many vulnerable children living in extreme poverty, the closing of classrooms brought their education to a sudden and complete end.OUR HISTORY
Handicap International (HI) is created, and with it the start of an ongoing fight against the injustice faced by the world’s most vulnerable people. HI’s first rehabilitation centres are set up in refugee camps in Thailand, Cambodia, Burma and Laos. Refugees themselves are taught to produce simple, adjustable prosthetic limbs.DISABILITY RIGHTS

It supports injured people, victims of trauma and people with disabilities. In 2006, HI merged with Atlas Logistique, which provided the organisation with unique expertise in the logistics of emergencyrelief operations.
