THE TEAM | IKON
Jonathan Watkins has led Ikon for over 20 years, joining the gallery in 1999. Previously he worked for a number of years in London, as Curator of the Serpentine Gallery (1995-1997) and Director of Chisenhale Gallery (1990-1995). He has curated a number of large international exhibitions including the Biennale of Sydney (1998),Facts of Life
DREAMWORLD | IKON
Ikon presents the first solo exhibition in Europe by leading Thai artist Mit Jai Inn (b.1960). Comprising recent works made from multiple layers of canvas and paint, it fills the gallery’s white-walled spaces with a kaleidoscope of material colour. Mit’s art spans many forms, including early unstretched rectangular canvases covered on both sides with thick JOE LYCETT – THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS Joe Lycett. This is the latest in our series of These Are a Few of My Favourite Things, previously featuring horticulturist Alys Fowler, multi-award winning saxophonist and MC Soweto Kinch, and cellist and conductor Julian Lloyd Webber. Being There is a two-part project conceived and realised by the artist Claudia Losi in collaboration with Italian arts collective, Collettivo Amigdala. Exhibited for the first time in Ikon’s Tower Room is Poli Antarctici Constitutio (2019), an intricately embroidered woollen cloth featuring a depiction of the Antarctic as represented in XIITHE END OF FUN!
