About the Sanctuary. The Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary is owned and operated by the Indiana Audubon Society and is located south of Connersville in Fayette County. Alice Green Gray gave the initial 264 acre property to the Indiana Audubon Society in 1943 as a livingmemorial to

CHICKADEES – INDIANA AUDUBON SOCIETY Chickadees are thrifty and they plan ahead, and these skills help them survive in winter. They require the equivalent of 250 sunflower seeds a day. To make sure they are prepared when food becomes scarce, they store their food. One study found that one bird may store between 50,000 – 80,000 seeds in one autumn (Haftorn, 1959).BALTIMORE ORIOLE
The state bird of Maryland, the Baltimore Oriole was named for royalty. It was given its name in honor of Lord Baltimore, founder of Maryland, due to its coloration. The colors of the Oriole match the colors of Lord Baltimore’s coat of arms. Males do not turn thatbright

BIG MAY DAY BIRD COUNT After careful thought and discussion, the Indiana Audubon Society (IAS) has decided to end the annual Big May Day Bird Count, held formally on the second Saturday in May. Over the last 27 years, the count has averaged less than 50% participation of the counties submitting data and individual participation has seen a study declineover the years

BIG MAY DAY BIRD COUNT After careful thought and discussion, the Indiana Audubon Society (IAS) has decided to end the annual Big May Day Bird Count, held formally on the second Saturday in May. Over the last 27 years, the count has averaged less than 50% participation of the counties submitting data and individual participation has seen a study declineover the years
TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY BIRDING TOUR 2022- FULL The 2022 Texas Birding Tour costs are: $1,085 per person IAS Member Double Occupancy. $1,175 per person Non-IAS Member Double Occupancy. $320 Single Supplement Fee. Included in the costs are all travel and lodging from and returning to Harlingen, April 17-24,, all guiding and entrance fees, and breakfast starting on Day 2-8. CHICKADEES – INDIANA AUDUBON SOCIETY Chickadees are thrifty and they plan ahead, and these skills help them survive in winter. They require the equivalent of 250 sunflower seeds a day. To make sure they are prepared when food becomes scarce, they store their food. One study found that one bird may store between 50,000 – 80,000 seeds in one autumn (Haftorn, 1959).BALTIMORE ORIOLE
The state bird of Maryland, the Baltimore Oriole was named for royalty. It was given its name in honor of Lord Baltimore, founder of Maryland, due to its coloration. The colors of the Oriole match the colors of Lord Baltimore’s coat of arms. Males do not turn thatbright
