OBEY THE GAME
Obey the Game is a simple simon-says mechanic mixed with quick-reaction and minigames. It features Blue Elephant who really can't cut a break until he gets to the coffee break. It features really great dance music by Kr1z. I really enjoyed the development of this game since minigame compilations isTHE NEXT FLOOR
The Next Floor was created as a week-long sprint project. The goal was to create a channeled Tower Defense game with elevator mechanics. As a game developer I'm really obsessed with elevators, many of my games feature them. This game introduces the top hat dude in his first of two games, the next being Balloon in a Wasteland. THIS IS THE ONLY LEVEL TOO After the success of This is the Only Level I shared the level design of the game with Tasselfoot. We both came up with about 30-40 level ideas and then arranged them on a board, lining them up by difficulty and slowly culling the final boards based on fit. The design of the level happened over email, using a grid we sent back and forth untilBALL REVAMPED 5
RedEye 1031 was a short Halloween project (hence the 1031) that I worked at in my second year at Armor Games. It featured flexible angled terrain and an oxygen mask weapon. It wasn't a great game by any means; in-fact its one of my least favorite games as a whole. But I like everything about the lead-up, art and story so I think that'sits
I HATE TRAFFIC
I Hate Traffic is the antithesis to a game called I Love Traffic, a game about preventing cars from hitting each other. In this game you're trying to cause large collisions or achieve certain goals. This is the first game I've ever made that had shareable content; you could make your own levels and share it with others. BALL REVAMPED 3: ANDROMEDA Ball Revamped 3: Andromeda is the first part of a 2-part Ball Revamped 3 series. The games adjusted the gameplay, focusing around the ball versus the level being a static fixture. It does somethings better than the original games, but also distracts and detracts due to the background action and higher framerate. BALL REVAMPED METAPHYSIK The game is based on the original game Ball Revamped, which I made in high school. The game was released to Newgrounds.com and was awarded a daily feature, my first award I've ever had for my video games. This game was also a gateway to one of my first sponsorships, Armor Games, where I would later become an employee for a half decade starting JOHN COONEY (JMTB02) Games and other creative works by John Cooney, aka jmtb02. In actuality its rainbows and teddy bears. This game was stupid fun to make. It was goofy, over-the-top, and absolutely dumb. DARK CUT 2 — JOHN COONEY Dark Cut 2 was taken a little more seriously than Dark Cut. Using photo-realism over hand-drawn art assets, the game has a bit more grit and grime than the original game. The game takes place in the 1800's this time. Programming: John. Art: John. BALL REVAMPED 3: GEMINI Gemini is the second part of the Ball Revamped 3 games. I made two different games since most game websites wouldn't allow a swf larger than 5MB and together they added up to about 6-7MB. TBA is a short project and one of the first during my tenure at Armor Games. Its a simple mechanic game, similar to Donkey Kong Country's barrel mechanic. It's a game about making change in a certain amount of coins. The biggest challenges were handling out-of-country players who didn't know US coins from heart, and having modes that help with that. The difficulty of the entire game is fully automated. Programming: John.Art: John.

FRONTIER — JOHN COONEY Frontier was a game I created over six moths. I really wanted to make an RPG that had trading mechanics. This game was a massive undertaking, written completely in Actionscript 2.0 (no classes) and featuring tons and tons of content. After making this RPG I vowed to never make an RPG ever again. I'm happy to say I didn't listen tomyself.
TBA — JOHN COONEY
TBA is a short project and one of the first during my tenure at Armor Games. Its a simple mechanic game, similar to Donkey Kong Country's barrel mechanic. The theme is abstract and vector to keep with the simplicity of the game. Its one of the best examples of my early work and one I still appreciate years later. THIS IS THE ONLY LEVEL One of the weirdest development cycles of all time, This is the Only Level was assembled from concept to completion in less than eight hours and published the same day. It leveraged a tile engine and several other pieces I had previously built but was otherwise a really fast project. I was working on a project that was taking too long andgoing
IDLEPLEX — JOHN COONEY Idleplex is an idle genre game that is ever-expanding. It was a one-week test project, to see if a concept I was considering made sense. I wanted to try to build a game where all the minigames were playing at the same time and contributing towards a central bank. The game resulted in an idle game that can be completed in just a day ortwo.
NANOTANK — JOHN COONEY Nanotank was a one week project collaborated by myself and Joey Betz, a coworker at Armor Games. We wanted to make a small physics game that used basic movement and simple goals toOBEY THE GAME
Obey the Game is a simple simon-says mechanic mixed with quick-reaction and minigames. It features Blue Elephant who really can't cut a break until he gets to the coffee break. It features really great dance music by Kr1z. I really enjoyed the development of this game since minigame compilations is BALL REVAMPED 3: ANDROMEDA Ball Revamped 3: Andromeda is the first part of a 2-part Ball Revamped 3 series. The games adjusted the gameplay, focusing around the ball versus the level being a static fixture. It does somethings better than the original games, but also distracts and detracts due to the background action and higher framerate. ABOUT — JOHN COONEY About — John Cooney. Hey there! My name is John. Over ten years I have published 100+ games, culminating in plays in the hundreds of millions. I've been responsible for all facets of development, including game design, artwork, programming, animation, UI/UX, and sound design. Currently focusing on producing great games and creatingrapid

SQUEEZED — JOHN COONEY Squeezed was a one-day sprint project to try out a simple concept. In the end it wasn't executed super-great, I didn't have the toolset to build a game that had dynamic hitboxes (star-shaped) and the music was not a strong fit to the style of the game. Programming: John. Art:John.
POCKET CHANGE
It's a game about making change in a certain amount of coins. The biggest challenges were handling out-of-country players who didn't know US coins from heart, and having modes that help with that. The difficulty of the entire game is fully automated. Programming: John.Art: John.
BALL REVAMPED
Ball Revamped is a reworked version of a game called Ball. Ball was a game I created in high school. This version reworked some of the levels and graphics and made it much easier to play. It didn't do extremely well, the game series wouldn't take off until the second game. Programming: John. NANOTANK — JOHN COONEY Nanotank was a one week project collaborated by myself and Joey Betz, a coworker at Armor Games. We wanted to make a small physics game that used basic movement and simple goals to THIS IS THE ONLY LEVEL TOO After the success of This is the Only Level I shared the level design of the game with Tasselfoot. We both came up with about 30-40 level ideas and then arranged them on a board, lining them up by difficulty and slowly culling the final boards based on fit. The design of the level happened over email, using a grid we sent back and forth until WATER DASH — JOHN COONEY Water Dash was built as a project for Citizens for Global Solutions, a non-profit I originally submitted a short-film called "Neglected Sky" for in a film festival the year previous. The goal is to educate on contaminated water in impoverished countries and resources for how we can help. Programming: John.BALL REVAMPED 5
BALL REVAMPED 4
Ball Revamped 4 is maybe my favorite in the series. It takes all the simple features that makes the game great and couples it with a great boss battle and the best level design in the series. The game also features one of the first save-game systems I've ever put in a game, leveraging save-game codes (randomly generated from an office supplyHome
