There are numerous ways to get involved with helping wildlife and Kent Wildlife Trust. From membership to volunteering, joining in with projects to supporting our campaigns and activities. SEVENOAKS WILDLIFE RESERVE AND JEFFERY HARRISON VISITOR Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve and Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre. We have some changes happening at our Sevenoaks car park. The Visitor Centre is open Thursday to Sunday, and Bank Holiday Mondays - 10.30am to 3.30pm. This will increase to six days a week from 1stYOCKLETTS BANK
This must-see site for orchid aficionados has ancient woodland on a chalk escarpment with a clay cap. The slope of the valley supports mixed woodland of ash, hornbeam and beech with a hazel understorey. CHANGES TO OUR CAR PARKS Which Kent Wildlife Trust sites will have paid parking? Our flagship reserves and those with established car parks will be the first to move to paid parking. These are: Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve, Marden Meadows, East Blean Woods, West Blean (Thornden) Woods,DARLAND BANKS
Sweeping panoramic views are not what you expect to find in the heart of the Medway towns but this site has long defied convention. This is our most diverse reserve which is home to the largest population of Man Orchids in the country. TYLAND BARN VISITOR CENTRE AND NATURE PARK CLOSED: Due to the current situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19), Tyland Barn Visitor Centre and nature reserve will remain closed to the public until further notice. Some events are still taking place -WILDER BLEAN
Kent Wildlife Trust and Wildwood Trust launched a flagship wilding project, ‘Wilder Blean’, funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. This groundbreaking project is busy taking place in the Blean Woods situated near Herne Bay, Whitstable, and Canterbury. The project will promote stronger habitats by restoring natural processes that ROMNEY MARSH VISITOR CENTRE AND NATURE RESERVE There is access to the sign-posted trails around the Romney Warren Country Park (managed by the Romney Marsh Countryside Partnership) which is situated beside the Visitor Centre. Nashenden Down is unique in that it is also Kent Wildlife Trust’s only arable nature reserve. On the lowest slopes, barley is planted thinly each year and left to grow without fertilisers or pesticides. The wildflowers race away under the canopy of the crop. Kent Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity. We have more than 31,000 members and over 1000 registered volunteers. We manage and protect over 9000 acres of land across more than 80 different sites and nature reserves, alongside 3 visitor centres. We work closely with local communities, landowners and partners to protect and improve habitats in the countryside, coast and town for the benefit of the wildlife and people of Kent.
