Sherbourne Common Park is a 3.6-acre park situated in the eastern bayfront area of Toronto’s waterfront, a rapidly developing mixed-use and residential community. Her research on designing with disabled people began with an inquiry into her own identity and use of public space, through her widely featured article DeafScape: Applying DeafSpace to Landscape. DeafScape is the application of Gallaudet University’s THE CASE FOR GREEN SCHOOLYARDS Jaime Zaplatosch is the Director of Green Schoolyards for Healthy Communities with the Children & Nature Network. The Children and Nature Network describes green schoolyards as multifunctional school grounds, designed by and for the entire school community, that include places for students, teachers, parents, and community members to play, learn, explore and grow. BUFFALO BAYOU PROMENADE Buffalo Bayou Promenade is a 23-acre urban park and recreation area that transformed an overgrown, trash-soaked urban greyfield into a thriving waterfront. The $15 million landmark project both improved flood control capacity and transformed a marginalized space beneath the freeway into a safe, welcoming place for pedestrians. The project was one of the City of Houston's largest-ever WADI HANIFAH COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PLAN The Wadi Hanifah and its tributaries form a unique 1,737-square mile natural basin that surrounds Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh. By the 1980s, urban growth had led to the over-extraction of riverbed resources, industrial and raw sewage contamination of groundwater, flooding, and widespread ecosystem collapse.KLYDE WARREN PARK
