5,000 Miles by ITHACA. 2020 forced us to stay at home, confined to our own little corner of the world. Commissioned and produced by Lighthouse to take place during Brighton Festival, 5,000 miles is an immersive 360-degree audio experience that transports you to another place through the evocative sounds of another country and culture. OFFICES AT LIGHTHOUSE Located in central Brighton, our premises house our programme events, and also offer meeting rooms, training spaces, offices and hire-able facilities for private and public use. At Lighthouse, we host eight creative organisations who rent our office suites. Each of our tenants add to the vibrancy and diversity of day-to-day activities in the BOOK OUR SPACE AT LIGHTHOUSE Leaving time – 17:30. Evening & Weekends: Our standard opening hours are 0900-1730 Monday to Friday. Our venue is available to hire outside of these hours, subject to availability, get in touch for more details. The project is designed around the interests and needs of the participants. Over the course of six months the young people take part in weekly training sessions led by experienced artists and creative professionals, held in Lighthouse’s training spaces and at Bottega Rooms, where they have access to a recording studio. LIGHTHOUSE YOUNG CREATIVES 2020 SHOWCASE About the Showcase. Lighthouse Young Creatives (formerly Viral) is a project for 16-25 year olds who want to work in the creative and digital industries, but who don’t have the opportunities, facilities and connections they need. THE INFORMALS II. CULTURAL EVENT The Informals II is an improvised documentary experience: a two-part event consisting of a gallery exhibition and a one-off live performance by artists Polina Medvedeva and Andreas Kühne, in collaboration with emerging talent from Brighton's music subcultures.. The project came out of Re-Imagined Residency that Polina Medvedeva and Andreas Kühne completed at Lighthouse in 2019, part BRIGHTON DIGITAL FESTIVAL 2021 Brighton Digital Festival (BDF) is transitioning to become a seasonal programme hosted by Lighthouse rather than existing as an independent company. The support of the Lighthouse team will enable BDF to fulfil its ambition to enable different people and communities across Brighton & Hove and beyond to develop new work in new settings - as creators, audiences and participants. THE INFORMALS II. CULTURAL EVENT The Informals II is an improvised documentary experience: a two-part event consisting of a gallery exhibition and a one-off live performance by artists Polina Medvedeva and Andreas Kühne, in collaboration with emerging talent from Brighton's music subcultures.. The project came out of Re-Imagined Residency that Polina Medvedeva and Andreas Kühne completed at Lighthouse in 2019, partLIGHTHOUSE YOUNG
The project is designed around the interests and needs of the participants. Over the course of six months the young people take part in weekly training sessions led by experienced artists and creative professionals, held in Lighthouse’s training spaces and at Bottega Rooms, where they have access to a recording studio. LIGHTHOUSE YOUNG CREATIVES 2020 SHOWCASE About the Showcase. Lighthouse Young Creatives (formerly Viral) is a project for 16-25 year olds who want to work in the creative and digital industries, but who don’t have the opportunities, facilities and connections they need. BRIGHTON DIGITAL FESTIVAL 2021 Brighton Digital Festival (BDF) is transitioning to become a seasonal programme hosted by Lighthouse rather than existing as an independent company. The support of the Lighthouse team will enable BDF to fulfil its ambition to enable different people and communities across Brighton & Hove and beyond to develop new work in new settings - as creators, audiences and participants. OFFICES AT LIGHTHOUSE Located in central Brighton, our premises house our programme events, and also offer meeting rooms, training spaces, offices and hire-able facilities for private and public use. Lighthouse Archive Highlight: Last Dance The changing space of UK club culture Last Dance programme investigates the rapid changes affecting UK club culture, and the impact of those changes on music and youth culture. Led by our Associate Artistic Director, and now Trustee, Elijah, Last Dance presented as a series of free talks, workshops, blogs, podcasts, film screenings and live events, taking place across the UK from June2017 to June 2018.
Artists, musicians, DJs, record label owners, radio presenters, magazine publishers and music organisations, who collectively stand at the forefront of the the cultural landscape both locally in Brighton and beyond, presented different interpretations of what the future of culture will look like. Contributing artists include Haroon Mirza, Jack Jelfs and GAIKA.
