LIGHTHOUSE CLUB
As an industry we need to do more to help and support our workforce and their families. Last year there were 30 fatalities on our building sites. Stress, depression or anxiety accounts for a fifth of all work related illness. Over 46% of all occupational cancer cases in the UK are directly attributed to working in HELP INSIDE THE HARD HAT Help Inside the Hard Hat. Lighthouse Club > Help Inside the Hard Hat. We’ve launched our ‘Help Inside the Hard Hat’ campaign to raise awareness of poor mental health within our industry. In the UK, two construction workers take their own lives every working day and stress, anxiety and depression account for a fifth of all work-relatedMASTERCLASSES
Masterclasses. These interactive masterclasses and wellbeing sessions are an introduction to the following subjects: Coping with stress – covers pressure and stress, causes, coping mechanisms, and how to build our resilience to stress *. Balancing Life & Work – covers what is good work life balance and how to achieve it *. MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID Lighthouse Club > Mental Health First Aid. This course is aimed at delegates who have an interest in supporting people with their mental health. This two-day course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you: An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing. Practical skills to spot thetriggers

HATS OFF TO HEATHROW’S NEW RECYCLING SCHEME Hats off to Heathrow’s new recycling scheme. 16th April 2019. All Team Heathrow members are now recycling their damaged or expired hard hats by using the specially designed hard hat shaped bin on site. Inspired by Heathrow 2.0, the hard hat recycling initiative was developed by Alan Sable and Lee Rawlings from Heathrow’s Health andSafety team.

The North West Club held their annual golf day on Thursday 4th July at Northop Golf Club, North Wales and was attended by 20 teams. The weather was superb, and everybody enjoyed a great day out. The North West Club held their annual golf day on Thursday 4th July at Northop Golf Club, North Wales and was attended by 20 teams. The weather was superb, and everybody enjoyed a great day out. All Team Heathrow members are now recycling their damaged or expired hard hats by using the specially designed hard hat shaped bin on site. We have to educate everyone in our industry to recognise the signs and symptoms of our colleagues that are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression and start the conversation to assist in their recovery. SUCCESS AT THE NORTH WEST SUMMER GOLF DAY The North West Club held their annual golf day on Thursday 4th July at Northop Golf Club, North Wales and was attended by 20 teams.The weather was superb, and everybody enjoyed a great day out. Some great golf was played, with a winning guest total of 43 points off a handicap of 15 from Paul Fairhurst, from the Edwards Homes Team –congratulations!
