Montgomery’s third novel, Kilmeny of the Orchard, the LMMI released a facsimile edition of "Una of the Garden", the story that eventually inspired the novel. “Una of the Garden” was first published in serial format in The Housekeeper magazine in POST-ROYAL VISIT UPDATE: THE DUCHESS *MEETS* "ANNE" The Guardian (Charlottetown) reports today that the Duchess of Cambridge spoke more about her love of Anne while meeting Tess Benger, the actress portraying Anne in this year's production of Anne of Green Gables: The Musical. Ms. Benger presented a copy of the book to the Duchess, who remarked that she was looking forward to reading it again. Montgomery Institute was so exciting that it is stored in my memory as one blaze of light.It was a party with a serious purpose. Imagine: we were bringing together Montgomery family members (from on and off-Island) and Montgomery scholars (from Ontario, PEI and Sweden), and people on the Island who ANNE OF GREEN GABLES READ-ALONG In 2018 Anne of Green Gables will turn 110 years old and the LMMI will celebrate its 25 th birthday and hold the 13 th Annual Biennial Conference, L.M. Montgomery and Reading.. This is the perfect time to revisit Montgomery’s classic novel in a read-a-long. Every Tuesday from now until the conference in June, readers will bring us their insights into the chapter of the week. IN MEMORIAM: RUTH MACDONALD In Memoriam: Ruth Macdonald. The LMMI was saddened to hear about Ruth Macdonald’s death this week. A passionate supporter of L.M. Montgomery studies, Ruth was one of the first people contacted about the Institute and was present at its first launch party, as well as many of our biennial conferences throughout the years. Ms. Benger presented a copy of the book to the Duchess, who remarked that she was looking forward to reading it again.
