The Town at the Open Air Museum in Lillehammer is designed to look like an inland town in the early part of the 1900s. In summer there is plenty of life and activities, and aTICKETS - MAIHAUGEN
Combined tickets. We offer a 25% discount when you buy a combined ticket for two or more of the museums in the Lillehammer Museum Foundation. Combined tickets apply for one visit per museum and must be purchased at the museums (not online). The Norwegian Postal Museum is included in the fare to Maihaugen (open during the summer season).EXHIBITIONS
There are always several exhibitions at Maihaugen at Lillehammer. Some are permanent for many years whilst others are temporary. The exhibitions are locatedWE WON THE LAND

The gaze is directed towards everyday life during the war. Then the rhythms of the Rolling Stones brings you through the post-war period. In postwar Norway former luxuries become common property. The Town section. In the Town section at Maihaugen you get to experience the life in an inland town around early 1900`s. The streets, the houses and the decorations are designed to fit the actual time period. During main season you can visit the Olsen house and be brought back to 1938. You can also visit the pharmacy, the shops andthe bakery.
RESIDENTIAL AREA
Residential area. An exciting part of the Open Air Museum in Lillehammer is the residential area. Here you will find detached houses representing the various decades of the 1900s, and you can see the development of home standards and family life. IMPULSES - MAIHAUGEN Impulses is a wide-ranging exhibition: from Gudbrandsdalen’s folk art of the 1700s to weapons from the Scottish mercenary forces of 1612, from stately sleighs to toy cars, from medieval ecclesiastical art to Lunde furniture from the 1900s, from clothes and tapestries to the world’s oldest revolver, and from Madoni’s barrel organ to the Moe family’s puppet theatre.
