ACCOMMODATIONS
Fort Worth Arts Festival, originally scheduled to take place on April 15-18, 2021. Read the full press release here. This cancellation is due to ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) health concerns and governmental recommendations for restricting large gatherings in order to prevent community spread. MAIN ST. will relaunch April 7 – 10, 2022. MEL FLECK & JAN FLECK The initial design of all our images is a collaborative effort which sometimes requires months, or even years. Upon completion of the design, Jan etches the images onto a zinc plate using nitric acid. Mel thinks inks; hand rubs and pulls each image from the plate. Finally, either Jan or Mel hand-colours the etching using acrylic washes. TAI POON - MAIN STREET ARTS FESTIVAL My paintings begin when I initiate considering the subject. Using the best materials available and accumulated experience, I’m able to create my vision. The brush is such an expressive tool, an extension of the hand and the heart. Our vases are handmade with 1/4 in. clear glass, the process begins by firing glass in kiln ,the glass is slumped over our handmade molds at 680 degrees. Anthony Pack is a full-time artist living in Overland Park, KS. His 3-D mixed media creations are built by hand, entirely of recycled materials. Pack combs antique malls, thrift shops, and estate sales to find material for his work. Pack has refined his current body ofSTEPHEN KOSTYSHYN
Stephen Kostyshyn. My baskets are made with a combination of fiber, clay and wood. The clay is a high fired stoneware with dipped and brushed with a wood ash glazes. Using traditional wheel-throwing and hand building techniques, I finish the clay parts first. Once OI have completed that I position and glue reed or dowel spokes in place. After several years of working in mixed media, I began to explore the art of encaustic, and became a full-time artist in this medium. Doug Remien. After I expose an image on traditional photographic film, the original is then scanned with a high resolution drum scanner. Next, I create a master digital file utilizing Photoshop within a PC environment. Ralph Prata. For over 30 years, I have been creating sculptural concrete carvings. Formulating my own special mixture of sand, aggregates and cements, I create solid blocks of concrete to carve. Upon completion of the design, Jan etches the images onto a zinc plate using nitric acid. Mel thinks inks; hand rubs and pulls each image from the plate. Fort Worth Arts Festival, originally scheduled to take place on April 15-18, 2021. Read the full press release here. This cancellation is due to ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) health concerns and governmental recommendations for restricting large gatherings in order to prevent community spread. MAIN ST. WILL RELAUNCH APRIL 7 – 10, 2022. Final plans will be released later this year with overriding consideration given to public health and safety. ------------------------- DURING OUR HIATUS, TAKE A MOMENT TO CHECK OUT THE 2020 EMERGING ARTISTS, ALL FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY Emerging Artists juried in our cancelled show are still active in the Fort Worth community, working tirelessly to create and spark imaginations through their incredible work. Each are listed on our Gallery, and are available to connect and create or provide a special piece for your home or business. ------------------------- Long a fixture in the Fort Worth arts scene,  and associated with MAIN ST. in particular, Gregory Story begins his Modern Clay Farewell Tour with a specially designed Commemorative Poster for MAIN ST. 2020, which will be carried over and available during our restart year in 2022. For this poster Mr. Story created a series of unique and colorful ceramic tiles featuring the iconic Tarrant County Courthouse. Designed by Pinkerton Design, and printed by Cockrell Enovation on Mohawk Options cover paper stock, courtesy of Olmsted Kirk Paper Company, the 20×28″ poster is now available online.
