WHAT IS THE COST OF AN OVERHEAD CRANE SYSTEM? Every day, we get customers who reach out to us to quote a new overhead crane installation. They may be moving into a new building, replacing an old or outdated piece of equipment, or may be buying an overhead crane for the first time and are looking to expand their business’ material handling capabilities. The bottom line is, they’re looking for the cost of an overhead crane. 5 REASONS YOUR LIFTING & RIGGING PROGRAM ISN’T OSHA/ASME It is interesting to note that we regularly observe end users in OSHA an ASME compliance for overhead crane inspection, mobile crane inspection, and rigging inspections, but not for their below-the hook-lifting devices—used directly in between the crane and the slings. 4. Failure to Inspect Fall Protection Equipment. LANG LAY WIRE ROPE VS. REGULAR LAY The lang lay ropes, as usually made, are about 15% more flexible than the same construction of regular lay ropes. But, this value will vary depending upon the relation of the strand lay to the rope lay. Because of the greater wearing surface per wire in the lang lay ropes, there is less wear on the sheave and drum equipment. ASME B30.9-2018: UPDATES & REVISIONS TO ASME’S B30.9 ASME B30.9 Slings is specific to load-handling lifting slings used to connect to and support a heavy load. The B30.9 standards are intended to be used by manufacturers, owners, employers, users, and others concerned with the specification, buying, maintenance, training and safe use of slings and hooks with B30 equipment, plus all potentialgoverning entities.
