THE WOMEN'S MOVEMENT The Women's Movement, which has also been known as the Women's Liberation Movement, the Feminist Movement and the Suffrage Movement, focusses on a number of issues such as reproductive rights (including abortion), domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. The goals and concerns of the Movement vary from country to country, depending on POST WORLD WAR II MIGRANT SHIP HISTORY: FAIRSEA, 1949-1969 The Fairsea holds an important place in the memory of many immigrants to Australia during the post World War II period. She was the first passenger ship of the famous Sitmar Line and the first non-British ship employed to carry assisted immigrants from Britain to Australia. The Fairsea was a regular sight in Australian waters and made a total of 81 voyages to and from Australia between 1949 AUSTRALIAN COMFORTS FUND, WORLD WAR II, 1939-1946 The Australian Comforts Fund (ACF) was first formed in August 1916 from a number of individual state based organisations that had been created at the beginning of World War I to send comfort to the troops. Many local women's groups formed early in the war to provide various 'luxury items' to supplement the Australian soldier's army rations andpersonal kit.
INDIGENOUS PROTEST, AUSTRALIAN BICENTENARY, 1988 Indigenous Protest, Australian Bicentenary, 1988. On 26 January 1988, more than 40,000 people, including Aborigines from across the country and non-Indigenous supporters, staged what was the largest march in Sydney since the Vietnam moratorium. There were around a dozen buses of Victorian Aborigines among those congregated. The 1971 Census was the first Australian Census to fully include Aboriginal and TREASURES OF THE NATURAL WORLD Treasures of the Natural World is produced and curated by the Natural History Museum, London.
