LATEST COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS FOR MUSICIANS CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) GUIDANCE & ADVICE FOR MUSIC Music Teaching during Covid-19. Guidance for musicians who teach, following updated Government guidance. The advice on this page covers: The latest Government guidance on Covid-19 must always inform your decisions as to what activity is allowed and appropriate. Guidance is produced by the UK Government (for England) and by the devolved MUSICIANS' UNION RATES OF PAY & COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS The Musicians’ Union helps to set appropriate rates of pay across all areas of musicians’ work, from session musicians and live performances to teaching rates. We also negotiate collective bargaining agreements with a wide range of employers to ensure that our members are properly treated and paid. Last updated: 18 March2021.

Current guidance is the virus should not spread over distances greater than 2m as the water borne droplets will drop to a surface. As such the virus is unlikely to reach the extract grilles and, if it did, it's highly unlikely to pass through the ventilation system back to the air handling unit.ACCOMPANIST RATES
The MU’s live rates are based on an hourly rate which a self-employed musician needs to charge in order to earn an income, relative to their training, experience and expertise. Individual negotiations can be made based on these minimum rates. If you’re self-employed, you do not have a contract of employment with anemployer.

Make sure you always fill in the relevant consent form when recording sounds, and always check with our recording department about fees and terms for any media engagements.
