Much has appeared in the media recently about bullying and particularly about bullying against women. The Queensland Government has recently led a National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence (NDA). This was aimed at “empowering students to feel confident and to be part of the solution to bullying, both online and in the schoolyard”. HARMONY DAY 2021 AT NCWQ Harmony Day 2021 at NCWQ. Homelessness: Women’s homelessness is usually linked to their decreased earnings because of their caring and parenting roles. If a woman is homeless she is more vulnerable to violence and exploitation. BURSARY 2021 PROGRAM This bursary reflects one of the priorities of the Queensland Women’s Strategy – to increase the number of female students in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) fields of study. NCWQ REGIONAL/RURAL BURSARIES About This Bursary. Sponsored by NCWQ, since the commencement of the program in 2009, this year two bursaries, each valued at $1000, are on offer. Their focus is to assist young women living in regional or rural Queensland, relocate from home to undertake their tertiary studies. The value of the bursary is $1,000 each bursary. This bursary has been offered for a number of years by Dr Susan Byth, in recognition of the work of her grandmother, Elsie Byth OBE, (1890 – 1988) in the National Council of Women.Mrs Byth served as president, of NCWQ and also nationally in NCWA, during the 1940s. The first Queenslander to hold the position, she led the NCWA with the re-formation of the International Council for Women after NCWQ HELEN OVENS MEMORIAL BURSARY The Helen Ovens bursary is to honour Helen, an integral member of NCWQ who passed away suddenly in 2013. Helen would have liked a bursary to go toward a mother’s educational expenses. She spoke often about the need for a mother, especially a stay-at-home mother, to have her own income to give her some independence. LADY JUSTICE BURSARY The NCWQ Lady Justice Bursary, sponsored by NCWQ member Senior Sergeant Anna Dwyer and Joanna Robinson, is being offered to a female studying Law or Justice in Queensland.. Anna and Joanna acknowledge the value of law and justice within the state of Queensland and wish to support a Queensland woman as she aims to achieve her goal studyingwithin this area.
SOUTH BURNETT MAYOR BURSARY This is the sixth year of sponsorship of this bursary by the South Burnett Regional Council for female students residing in its council area.. The bursary recognises the additional difficulties faced by students living away from major cities, with studies often requiring time away from home and families. BURSARY 2021 PROGRAM This bursary reflects one of the priorities of the Queensland Women’s Strategy – to increase the number of female students in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) fields of study.ENVIRONMENT

The Problem: In my NCWQ Environment Adviser’s Report, November 2019, I drew attention to the fact that many billions of megalitres of water can flow out to sea while other parts of the country suffer extreme drought. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Jessica Taylor is the President of QENDO, Chair of The Australian Coalition for Endometriosis and CEO of the Pain Management Australia. Jessica believes the voice of the consumer is critical in decision-making at all levels of service delivery and to ensure relevant and effective support is offered. ABOUT US – NCWQ INC Unite associates and societies of women, and of men and women, into an organisation for mutual counsel and cooperation. Work for the empowerment of women and families and to promote equal status for women in law and fact. Develop policies and responses on behalf of women on a state wide basis. Act as a voice on issues and concerns of women at state and regional levels. WHAT WE DO – NCWQ INC The National Council of Women of Qld Inc., which has been working for women in Queensland since 1905, is part of NCWA Inc. which was recognised by the Australian Government as one of three peak Women’s organisations in 2000. This bursary has been offered for a number of years by Dr Susan Byth, in recognition of the work of her grandmother, Elsie Byth OBE, (1890 – 1988) in the National Council of Women.Mrs Byth served as president, of NCWQ and also nationally in NCWA, during the 1940s. The first Queenslander to hold the position, she led the NCWA with the re-formation of the International Council for Women after ELEMENTS LIVING BURSARY This bursary, sponsored by Chiou See Anderson, the owner/Managing Director of Elements Third Age Living, Springwood, is a long-term sponsor of the NCWQ bursary program.The focus of this bursary reflects her passion for improving the care and life style for seniors.. PLEASE NOTE: In recognition of aged care industry being predominantly staffed by females, this bursary in 2021 will also BURSARIES – NCWQ INC Applications for the NCWQ Bursary Program are open. With 35 bursaries on offer, they range from Year 12 to PhD students, some for various fields of study, some for place of residence, some for specific groups, including disability, mental illness, refugee background,LGBTIQ, Indigenous.
COUNCILLOR VICKI HOWARD BURSARY This bursary, sponsored by Councillor Vicki Howard from the Brisbane City Council, focusses assistance for female students living in this council area, who identify with the LGBTIQ community.In addition to the monetary value of $1,100, the bursary will facilitate a mentoring program with Cr Vicki Howard and youth entrepreneur and LGBTIQ activist Elise Stephenson.Skip to content

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS __ __ Who can join as a member? We have two types of memberships – AFFILIATE and ASSOCIATE. AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to ANY ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN, OR MEN AND WOMEN, whose constitution is consistent with that of The National Council of Women. Each such affiliated association may elect two voting delegates to the Council. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is open to AN INDIVIDUAL whose nomination is accepted by the Council. Associate members are represented on the Management Committee and have full voting rights at all GeneralMeetings.
