Haroon Syed pleaded guilty to preparation of an act of terrorism contrary to s. 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 ½ years. INTOXICATION AND CAPACITY TO CONSENT: THE CALL FOR LEGISLATION Excessive alcohol consumption features heavily in the facts of many sexual offences trials. But despite the large number of cases where it is a factor there has been an apparent reluctance to legislate or offer prescriptive guidance on these issues. Haroon Syed pleaded guilty to preparation of an act of terrorism contrary to s. 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 ½ years.
