EMPLOYMENT - OLANA NY STATE HISTORIC SITE Part-time: 8-24 hours per week/ $20 per hour. Position: Olana State Historic Site, the home and studio of eminent Hudson River School painter Frederic Edwin Church, is a historic site administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation,Taconic Region.
OLANA STATE HISTORIC SITE This ¼ mile-long walking tour focuses on the integration of landscape and architecture in the siting and design of Olana’s Main House. The route follows the historic carriage road entrance from the site of Frederic Church’s painting studio, past the Mingled Flower Garden, to culminate in the dramatic planned approach road with panoramic views of the Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains. "MEMENTO MORI MANDALAS" BY PORTIA MUNSON In her flower mandala series, Munson memorializes bird, animal, and insect life that has come into harsh contact with man, highlighting the shifting climate and the associated stresses that pollution and modern, industrialized life have on natural places and wildlife.
