THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST This Sunday the Roman Catholic church celebrates the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, traditionally known by its Latin name ‘Corpus Christi’. It is an opportunity to reflect on the fact that Christ gave us his body and blood as spiritual sustenance. The First Reading reminds us that God fed his people with manna and water as he EYEWITNESSES OF EASTER Eyewitnesses of Easter. Journey through Eastertide by seeing the Resurrection through the eyes of those who were present Dries van den Akker SJ has written these reflections to help bring the experience of the resurrection alive for each of us. Translated from the Dutch byStephen Noon SJ.
NOVENA FOR PENTECOST The God Who Speaks team offers this Novena of readings and prayers drawn from the Bible and recent Papal teaching. Between Ascension and Pentecost, the Scriptures tell us: “All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers” (Acts 1:14) while they awaited toPENTECOST YEAR B
Today we celebrate the great day of Pentecost, when Christ filled the Church with the power of his Spirit and sent his followers out into the world to bring his peace, joy and mercy to all. SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR B The readings for this final Sunday of Eastertide remind us again of all the graces we have received through Jesus’s death and resurrection, and the joy which comes from knowing just how much we are loved by God. In the First Reading, we hear of the election of Matthias, who takes the place of Judas, ‘the one who chose to belost’.
