Rarest birds in the World: the Black Stilt. Hutton in 1871 describes it as follows: Head, neck and lower parts, dull black ; back and wings, greenish black; tail, black ; forehead, cheeks and throat, grey. The young have the whole under surface, and over the tail, white ; the inner webs of the lateral tail feathers white, with black tips. STREAKED SHEARWATER (CALONECTRIS LEUCOMELAS) Until recently the shearwaters were devided in two genera Calonectris and Puffinus, but based on dna-analysis Penhallurick and Wink (2004) have proposed a splitting of the shearwaters into three genera: Calonectris for the large shearwaters of the Northern Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the waters around Japan, Ardenna for a group of large Southern Hemisphere breeders and Puffinus for the THE WHITE STORK AND THE BRING BABY STORY A Fox one day invited a Stork to dine with him, and, wishing to be amused at his guest’s expense, put the soup which he had for dinner in a large flat dish, so that, while he himself could lap it up quite well, the Stork could only dip in the tip of his long bill. Black bill and casque, bare blackish skin around eye and small patches near bill-base. Glossy dark greenish upperparts. Iris cream-coloured in male and dark brown in female. Pale tip to casque-less bill MISSISSIPPI KITE (ICTINIA MISSISSIPPIENSIS) Genus. Members of the genus Ictinia are medium-sized kites. Their wings are long and pointed, and their tails are medium-sized, square or slightly forked. Te bill is small to medium, with an inconspicuous ‘tooth’ on each edge of the upper mandible. The legs are short; and the talons short but strongly curved. The general colour is grey. Fox Sparrow (Passerella iliaca) Science Article 1 abstract On the basis of plumage coloration and mitochondrial DNA variation, four maingroups are recognized within the Fox Sparrow (Passerella iliaca): the red group (iliaca, RE),sooty group (unalaschcensis, SO), thick-billed (megarhyncha, TB), and slate-colored (schistacea,SC). GIANT IBIS (PSEUDIBIS GIGANTEA) Huge, dark ibis. EUROPEAN STONECHAT (SAXICOLA RUBICOLA) Saxicola torquata is a widespread breeder across much of Europe, which accounts. for less than a quarter of its global breeding range. Its European breeding population. is very large (>2,000,000 pairs), but declined markedly between 1970-1990. Although. Ortolan Bunting (Emberiza hortulana) Science Article 1 abstract The ortolan bunting Emberiza hortulana is a bird species that has shown a particularly dramatic decline during recent decades within the agricultural areas of Europe. INDIAN VULTURE (GYPS INDICUS) Members of the genus Gyps are vultures varying in size from medium to large. They have an elongated head with a long and heavy beak. The head and neck are bare, but for a covering of woolly down. At the base of the neck is a ruff of long, narrow, pointed feathers. This is a social genus, usually nesting in colonies in trees or on rocky crags. PHILIPPINE HAWK-EAGLE (NISAETUS PHILIPPENSIS) Nisaetus is a genus of eagles found mainly in tropical Asia. They were earlier placed within the genus Spizaetus but molecular studies show that the Old World representatives were closer to the genus Ictinaetus than to the New World Spizaetus (in the stricter sense).PLANET OF BIRDS

PACIFIC PARAKEET (ARATINGA STRENUA) The parrot genus Aratinga comprises 24 species. Aratinga is a genus of American parakeets. They belong to the long-tailed group. Most are predominantly green, although a few are predominantly yellow ororange.

They nest on exposed rock faces of cliffs, in cavities under boulders or in short twisting burrows in soft grass-covered slopes. AUGUR BUZZARD (BUTEO AUGUR) Found in open savannah, forest, and plains country, generally at altitudes of 3,000 to 17,000 feet (most common at about 6,000 feet). Usually a bird of mountainous country, it is also found in open plains, if there are hills or escarpments nearby, and in forested areas with nearby cultivation. MISSISSIPPI KITE (ICTINIA MISSISSIPPIENSIS) The adult male Mississippi Kite has a pale grey head, the pale grey extending to the back of its neck and its secondary flight feathers, the secondaries being tipped with white. STREAKED SHEARWATER (CALONECTRIS LEUCOMELAS) Until recently the shearwaters were devided in two genera Calonectris and Puffinus, but based on dna-analysis Penhallurick and Wink (2004) have proposed a splitting of the shearwaters into three genera: Calonectris for the large shearwaters of the Northern Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the waters around Japan, Ardenna for a group of large Southern Hemisphere breeders and Puffinus for the THE WHITE STORK AND THE BRING BABY STORY According to European folklore, the stork is responsible for bringing babies to new parents. He was so poor that he possessed nothing in the world but the ashes on his hearth. STORMS STORK (CICONIA STORMI) Little is known about the reproductive biology of this species. Some form of aerial display occurs during courtship in which pairs do flips in flight, with the lower bird presenting its feet to the upper, or both birds gliding at high altitudes with level wings and legsdangling.

This newly described species is listed as Critically Endangered because there are no known populations and the last record is from 1971; consequently if it does remain extant it is assumed that any population must be tiny. The species was collected on the Llano de Ovejas, a small plateau at 2,400-2,800 m. This species hasRead Post

This species is classified as Critically Endangered as it is now absent or occurs in extremely reduced numbers over the majority of its former breeding and wintering grounds and is common nowhere. The White-shouldered Ibis population is very rapidly diminishing. The reasons are not fully understood but certainly habitat loss, hunting and disturbance are on-going threats.
