PRAGMATIC MOM
by Pragmatic Mom. I’m personally a foraging enthusiast but it’s not a passion that members of my family share. Still, I haven’t given up. I have taken them on a foraging field trip with a local expert. I make a point of showing them edible plants in our neighborhood. I have MEET ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERO BRUNO MARS When I started writing Asian Pacific American Heroes, the first person I wrote about was Bruno Mars. It was daunting to capture his huge and successful life thus far in just a few paragraphs. I submitted what I had to my editors and they responded with specific questions including why did Bruno Mars get dropped from his first label. What went wrong? 40+ LISTS OF ASIAN AMERICAN BOOKS FOR KIDS Take a look at these Asian American books for kids!Celebrate Korean, Southeast Asian, Vietnamese, Chinese cultures and more with these children’s books! One of the most exciting things for me about blogging was discovering Asian American books for kids. DIY STEM PAPER CIRCUITS: LIGHT UP CARDS This STEM project teaches kids about circuits and electricity. Because there are tiny parts, I recommend it for ages 10 and older. This coincides nicely with 5th grade Core Curriculum circuits as well. There are a few hurdles for doing this project. To make it easier for my readers to do this science project, I'm giving away some kits of the harder to procure parts. DIVERSITY GRAPHIC NOVELS FOR KIDS Graphic novels are my secret weapon to get any kid reading. My recent discovery is that there are also multicultural, diversity, and inclusive graphic novels that bring kids into different perspectives like what it’s like to have hearing loss or go through a civil war. MEET ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN HERO DWAYNE "THE ROCK" JOHNSON Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson might be known for his wrestling career or as the highest-earning actor in Hollywood, but I admire him for the charitable work that he does quietly and tirelessly. In this Inside Edition video clip, he connects with a fan who has terminal leukemia. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's heart is perhaps bigger than hisimpressive muscles.
WORDLESS DIVERSITY PICTURE BOOKS Right about now, you are probably ready for a trip to the beach or a dip in a pool? Or maybe you are planning a trip to NYC to check out the sights? To find life lessons, I went to some original sources life lessons from a 90-year-old woman and a 99-year-old man. Their words of wisdom were similar and it's about living well to live long. I added in a few life lessons that I've found along the way and the picture books that helpto illustrate it.
5TH GRADE CLOUD SCIENCE PROJECT My three kids have been lucky enough to have the same kindergarten teacher and the same 5th grade teacher -- bookends to their elementary school lives.
