Artist Statement. My research is based on the Balad, the old city of Jeddah. It explores the resident’s sense of self, their relationship to the Divine and the dialogue between city and desert. STORIES - BALLATER OLD ROYAL STATION IN ABERDEENSHIRE Just shy of three years since it was destroyed by fire, the station will shortly be restored to its former, former glory. When the Old Royal Station in Ballater – which had been turned into a restaurant and exhibition and visitor centre – was ravaged by a blaze in May 2015, it was as devastating a blow to Scottish heritage as it was to the small burgh’s 1,500-strong community.
