In the UK we’ve launched our third project, protecting children found at risk by British Transport Police on the rail network. WHY DO CHILDREN RUN AWAY? Children run away from problems at home or at school. Some are dealing with very serious issues at home, such as neglect, drug and alcohol addiction (their own or their parents'), mental health problems, violence and abuse. JOINING FORCES TO KEEP CHILDREN SAFE ACROSS THE UK Joining forces to keep children safe across the UK. We're determined to reach as many vulnerable young people as possible who are using the transport system to get away from or get themselves into dangerous situations. But there are thousands of them passing through our stations every day and we can't always be there when they need us.OUR WORK IN INDIA
Our outreach workers spend time with children, gaining their trust and providing someone to talk to and a safe place to stay, while we work out the best long-term solution for their individual circumstances. We provide child protection booths on platforms and drop-in centres nearby. Where possible, we work to reunite children with theirfamilies.

Many children who run away say they weren't being heard, or that they suffer from low self-esteem. WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE TRANSPORT SAFER Working together to make transport safer. Railway Children has developed the Safeguarding on Transport programme in response to a growing number of safeguarding incidents being reported across the UK rail network. Our objective is to create a national safety network for vulnerable children at risk of violence, abuse and exploitation.GIFTS IN MEMORY
