VOLUNTEERING AT A RAPE CRISIS CENTRE Volunteering is crucial to the Rape Crisis movement. Many Rape Crisis Centres are often looking for women to train and volunteer with them. Volunteers might: Provide support to women and girls who have experienced sexual violence. Work on a telephone helpline, online, or face-to-face. Become a Trustee or member of a committee. Flight: putting distance between you and danger, including running, hiding or backing away. Freeze: going tense, still and silent. This is a common reaction to rape and sexual violence. Freezing is not giving consent, it is an instinctive survivalresponse.

MYTHS ABOUT RAPE
Rape is an act of violence and control. It can't be explained away and there are no excuses. Myth: When it comes to sex, women and girls give out mixed signals. They sometimes 'play hard to get' and say 'no' when they really mean 'yes'. Fact: Everyone has the legal right to say 'no' to sex and to change their mind at any point of sexual contact.
