READING MUSEUM
Reading Museum is a free and fun day out for all the family. Discover more about Reading's local history, the Abbey Ruins, animals, art andmore.
ART - READING MUSEUM Browse our Collections Online website. Our art collection consists of 8000 works of art and craft ranging from oil paintings to sculpture, with a particular strength in twentieth century British art and tin-glazed pottery. You can see highlights in the Museum’s permanent galleries. The founding collection is a group of nineteenth century RIVERSIDE MUSEUM AT BLAKE'S LOCK Our small branch site tells the story of Reading's two rivers - the Kennet and the Thames. The Riverside Museum occupies two Listed former waterworks buildings, the Screen House and the Turbine House. The Screen House displays our beautiful gypsy caravan built by Reading firm Dunton and Sons to the 'Ledge' design, and a video about gypsylife.

Thanks to the support and collaboration of the Reading Caribbean community, the Barbados Museum & Historical society and the Windrush Foundation, Reading Museum’s Learning Team have created three fascinating resources to help children understand the importance of Windrush Day. FRIENDS OF READING MUSEUM Friends of Reading Museum. The Friends exist to create a greater awareness of Reading Museum, and to promote the importance of the Museum’s collections and their presentation to the community. We raise funds for the purchase of artworks and artefacts and support activities which would not otherwise be possible. You can get involvedby:

Through ten biscuit tins in the Museum's Huntley & Palmers Collection this blog explores the history of two great Reading companies, Huntley & Palmers and Huntley, Boorne & Stevens.. The story starts in 1822 when Joseph Huntley started making biscuits in his small baker's shop on London Street inReading.

Reading Museum’s founding collection was offered to Reading Corporation in 1877 by the trustees of the late Horatio Bland (1802-1868). ANIMAL: THE READING DRAGONS Wyvern (a two legged dragon) on the Reading Abbey Gateway. The remains of two, strictly speaking, Wyverns (two legged dragons) adorn the Reading Abbey Gateway.
