Not ready to drop the case despite theadverse ruling
ROCHESTER DIOCESE FILES ACTION AGAINST INSURERS Lloyds of London as well as other British-based insurance companies are among firms targeted in its Nov. 14 Bankruptcy Court action. In its complaint against the insurers, the diocese names companies that wrote liability policies dating back to 1943. The CVA covers abuses dating at the earliest to the mid-1960s. WHAT’S NEXT FOR PONZI SCHEME’S VICTIMS? As the Rochester Beacon previously reported, the class-action case seeks to make Bank of America and Citizens Bank, which held accounts for companies that figured in Santillo’s Ponzi scheme, repay victims of the scheme. Federal authorities believe that some 600 investors who were pulled into the Ponzi scheme lost at least $70 million. It was a tale of two cities that began to be told like so: It was the worst of times; it was the worst of times. Such was the initial tilt of panelists at the Rochester Beacon’s Jan. 28 Economic Forecast Forum. Those views were later challenged, however. ROCHESTER'S 'IMPOSSIBLE' CONNECTION Rochester’s ‘impossible’ connection. At Founding Farmers, a popular D.C. restaurant just a few blocks from the White House, I recently ordered a veggie burger. For $16 (these are D.C. prices) what I got was not your father’s soy and lentil burger, but a plant-based product that looks and tastes as close to actual meat as anythingI’ve
