Safety Risks and Risk Control. We’re here to help you understand and manage safety risks and develop and improve health and safety management systems, with easy access to information, guidance and good practice, reports, data and insight. LHSBR is the rail industry’s health and safety strategy for delivering a better, safer andhealthier
NATIONAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION NOTICES Following the UK’s exit from the EU and the ending of the transition period on 31 December 2020, EU Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) have ceased to apply in the UK. The technical content of TSIs at the end of the transition period have been replicated as National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs), which came into effect on 1 January 2021. EMERGENCY SPECIAL WORKING (ESW) Emergency Special Working (ESW) is a new set of rules for dealing with the same kind of signalling failures as TBW is designed for. These rules have been developed over more than ten years based on detailed research, risk assessment, and input from Network Rail, train operating companies, ASLEF and RMT. ESW has also been trialledoperationally
RED 59 - TRESPASS - RSSB RED 59 - Trespass. Trespass brings severe safety implications, for the trespassers and the wider network. In this programme, we hear about what industry is doing to tackle this problem, and what we can all do to help. Join RSSB as a corporate member to unlock the Premium content suited to your business needs. Benefit from access to: NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS Non-technical skills (NTS) are social, cognitive and personal skills that can enhance the way you or your staff carry out technical skills, tasks and procedures. By developing these skills, people in safety-critical roles can learn how to deal with a range of different situations. NTS are an important part of competence and competencemanagement.
INTERFACE BETWEEN STATION PLATFORMS, TRACK, TRAINS AND Clarification to clause 3.1.1.3. This clarification addresses interpretation issues over the application of the revised requirements in GIRT7020 and RIS-7016-INS and clarifies the change of 'Normal' clearance in GIRT7073 from 50mm to 40mm for platforms. GOOD PRACTICE GUIDE ON COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT RS100 is a good practice guide on competence development that incorporates outputs from recent and current RSSB research and development projects as well as other leading practice from within the industry and beyond. The document is aimed primarily at all duty holders (infrastructure managers and railway undertakings) who are required under The Railways and other Guided Transport Systems GB REQUIREMENTS FOR PLATFORM HEIGHT, PLATFORM OFFSET AND Summary Of Changes. Clarification to clause 2.1.3. This clarification addresses interpretation issues over the application of the revised requirements in GIRT7020 and RIS-7016-INS and clarifies the change of 'Normal' clearance in GIRT7073 from 50mm to 40mm for platforms. Read full standard. Registered. EVALUATING SAFETY PERFORMANCE AND RISK: FATALITIES The rail industry measures safety performance and risk using the fatalities and weighted injuries (FWI) measure. The injury categorisations and weightings used to calculate FWI changed on 21 January 2021. The main driver behind this change was to align the injury categories with the current Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 2013. GENERAL DUTIES AND TRACK SAFETY FOR TRACK WORKERS This handbook is for those personnel who need to go on the operational railway to carry out their duties, with the exception of a train driver, guard, shunter, signaller, crossing keeper or designatedperson (DP).

GETTING PAST UNCERTAINTY AND SUPPORTING BRITAIN’S REVIVAL The prospects for Britain in 2021 are encouraging. In all probability, the worst of Covid is behind us, and we will continue to see a relaxing of restrictions. The long-term management of Covid is likely to be via vaccination, allowing people to live near-normal lives again. Already we are seeing that more people are feeling comfortable to use rail again to visit loved ones, to get out and SAFETY EXPERTS HELPING RAIL MONITOR COVID-19 VARIANT RISK Rail companies are using an upgraded risk model to plan for different scenarios, and maximise safety, as Covid-19 restrictions have easedacross Britain.
THE OCCUPATIONAL ROAD RISK MANAGEMENT CHARTER The Charter is a leadership statement, and by signing the Occupational Road Risk Management Charter the CEO or MD is making a commitment to their organisation to meet strategic challenges 1 and 2, set out in the Occupational Road Risk Management (ORRM) section of Leading Health and Safety on Britain's Railway (LHSBR).. The Charter provides an opportunity for rail sector leaders to collaborateSUPPLIER ASSURANCE
