NAPA was formed in response to the continuing dispute over mackerel quota allocation in the North East Atlantic. This dispute is resulting in annual catches well in excess of the advised catches. AQUACULTURE REGULATORY TOOLBOX FOR ENGLAND Farms produce a range of finfish, shellfish and crustaceans in marine, intertidal and freshwater environments. With increasing focus being placed on topics such as food and nutritional security, a growing population and increasing demand for healthy products, the English aquaculture industry must increase production to meet these needs. FISHING DATA AND INSIGHT In 2019 there were 4,491 active fishing vessels in the UK. Around 74% of these vessels were under 10 meters in length and tended to operate in inshore waters (less than six miles from the shore).
