SHETLAND WOOL WEEK
Winter seemed to forget the 'spring memo' in Shetland and we've been pulling the winter woollies tighter as force 10 gales and blizzards have blasted the islands over Easter. In Shetland, it's frequently 'hat weather' and we couldn't be more excited to announce the launch of the new Shetland Wool Week hat pattern for 2021; a new 'Knit-a-long' and some beautiful Wool Week goodies! FREE KNITTING PATTERN Free Knitting Pattern. FREE KNITTING PATTERN. The official 2021 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern ‘Da Crofter’s Kep’ has been exclusively designed by our patron for two years running Wilma Malcolmson.. Knit the hat in any of the suggested colour variations, or come up with your own colour scheme. The much-anticipated annual hat pattern, which is now synonymous with the launch of the patron has also been released. We run Shetland Wool Week as a celebration of our outstanding textiles heritage and to support and grow all aspects of the industry today. We have already invested a huge amount of time and money in preparing for the 2020 event – work which began SWW 2021 ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER careful consideration, it is with great regret that we write to inform you that Shetland Wool Week 2021 is cancelled due to the ongoing concerns relating to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are deeply saddened that our annual gathering of wool aficionados and friends will not take place this autumn. We have held off in the hope that there would be more positive news. Food will always play a major part in any festival, especially in Shetland, where sharing food plays a huge part in our community life.
