ADDUCTOR TENDONITIS
Adductor Tendonitis. Groin inflammation or adductor tendonitis occurs when the adductor muscles in the groin can become inflamed, or degenerate through overuse. Symptoms include pain and stiffness at the top of the groin which can radiate down the leg. Treatment involves reducing pain and inflammation followed by stretching andstrengthening
OUTSIDE FOOT PAIN
It is most likely to be caused following an ankle sprain or forceful impact to the outside of the foot. However, it may occur through overuse, particularly repetitive strain or impact to the outside of the foot. The main symptoms are: Pain on the outside of the foot. Swelling. Difficulty weight-bearing. TORN PCL REHABILITATION EXERCISES Torn PCL rehabilitation program Phase 1: Immediately following injury. Aims – To control swelling, maintain the ability to straighten and bend the leg and to begin strengthening exercises for the leg muscles when possible.. Duration – 2 weeks.. Rest from aggravating activities. Use crutches if necessary. Complete rest for the first 48 hours, after that, let pain be the guide to the speedGILMORE'S GROIN
Symptoms. Symptoms of Gilmore’s groin often develop and progress gradually over time and include: Groin pain which increases by running, sprinting, twisting, and turning. After training, you may be stiff or sore. The day after training or playing you may experience groin pain when turning or even getting out of a MEDIAL ELBOW PAIN (INSIDE ELBOW) Biceps tendonitis is an overuse injury causing pain and inflammation on the inside/front of the elbow. Symptoms include thickening and redness over the front of the elbow, where the biceps tendon inserts. Pain or discomfort may be felt when bending the arm against resistance (e.g. bicep curl exercise). You may also experience pain or discomfort MEDIAL KNEE PAIN (INSIDE) Symptoms include. An aching pain in the knee joint, particularly at the front of the knee around and under the patella. There is often tenderness along the inside border of the kneecap. Swelling will sometimes occur after exercise. Patellofemoral pain is often worse PAIN BEHIND KNEE (POSTERIOR KNEE PAIN) The Popliteus is a small muscle located at the back of the knee. The muscle, or tendon can be torn, especially from twisting activities, or injuried through overuse. Symptoms may include: Acute (sudden onset), or gradual onset pain behind the knee. The back of your knee will feel tender when pressing in. INSIDE ANKLE PAIN (MEDIAL) Symptoms include: Moderate pain on the inside of the ankle. You may be unable to weight bear on the injured ankle. Treatment involves immediate surgery to repair the retinaculum 1. The ankle is then immobilised in a walking boot (non weight bearing) for 6 weeks. POSTERIOR THIGH PAIN A hamstring strain or pulled hamstring is very common in sport. It usually occurs from sprint related activities, or when performing high kicks and overstretching the hamstring muscles. Symptoms include: Sudden onset pain at the back of the thigh. You will most likely have discomfort in the groin area, but be able to walk with little or no pain. Often it is not possible to recall the exact point of injury as your pain may only be noticeable after exercise. If you press into (palpate) the muscle it may feeltight
INSIDE FOOT PAIN
A bunion (also known as hallux valgus) is a painful swelling of the soft tissue with bone enlargement over the inside of the forefoot at the base of the big toe (MTP joint). Symptoms include: Pain on the inside of the forefoot which becomes progressively worse over time. Bunion pain is often relieved by removing your shoes off or wearingsoft
TFCC TEAR - SYMPTOMS, CAUSES, TREATMENT & SURGERY EXPLAINED TFCC tear symptoms. Symptoms of a TFCC tear include wrist pain on the little pinky finger side. There will be tenderness over the back of the wrist. Pain worsens when bending the wrist sideways so the little finger moves towards the forearm (called ulnar deviation). There is likely to be swelling in the wrist, reduced grip strength and AC JOINT SPRAIN EXERCISES Returning to sport. Before returning to any type of sport following an AC joint injury you should have full pain-free range of motion. On returning to contact sports, protect your shoulder by taping the joint.Add a circular piece of padding with a hole cut in the middle over the top of your shoulder for extra protection. ANTERIOR ANKLE PAIN (FRONT) The tibialis anterior muscle is the large muscle that runs down the outside of the shin. it is a powerful dorsifexor of the ankle (lifts the foot up). Inflammation of the tendon sheath can cause pain at the front of the ankle, particularly when bending the foot and toes up. Symptoms also include pain when bending the foot and toes up. LATERAL KNEE PAIN (OUTSIDE OF THE KNEE) Symptoms include: An aching pain in the knee. Tenderness and swelling which is mostly at the front of your knee around the patella. Symptoms can also occur over the outside of your knee. Pain is often worse when walking up and down hills, or when sitting for long periods. More on Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. SIX HOT TUB BENEFITS Reduce injury risk. Soaking regularly in a hot tub can help reduce the risk of injury by loosening tight muscles and improving movement. Tight and stiff muscles can lead to strains or tears, but hot water can help relax the muscles by increasing blood flow to them. Having fully functioning muscles in good condition, without tight knots and VIRTUAL SPORTS INJURY CLINIC Welcome to the Virtual Sports Injury Clinic. BRUISED HEEL
Bruised heel symptoms. Symptoms consist of pain under the heel bone (Calcaneus). Pain usually comes on gradually over time, but can be brought on instantly from jumping onto the heels. You will find walking or running will be uncomfortable or painful. However, runningon
HIP SYNOVITIS
Hip synovitis symptoms. If you have synovitis you will have hip joint pain. You will have pain in the hip when exercising and at rest. Walking will be uncomfortable and may make symptoms worse. Night pain is also a common sign of hip synovitis. Sometimes a you may have a BICEPS TENDONITIS AT THE ELBOW Biceps tendonitis symptoms. Symptoms include thickening and redness over the biceps tendon. Pain or discomfort may be felt when bending the arm against resistance. The patient may also experience pain or discomfort on the front and inside of the elbow when writing. Tenderness to touch the tendon which can be felt in the crease of theelbow.
ACUTE ELBOW INJURIES Acute Elbow Injuries. Acute elbow injuries occur suddenly and include fractures, tendon ruptures, dislocations, and ligament sprains. Ligament sprains can occur suddenly, or may develop over time through repetitive throwing. Here we explain the causes of sudden onset, acute elbow pain. Fractures. LATERAL MENISCUS TEAR This is because it doesn’t attach to the lateral knee ligament in the same way that the medial cartilage meniscus attaches to the medial ligament. A tear of the lateral meniscus can occur during twisting movements, direct impact to the knee joint, deep squats or due to degeneration of the cartilage, particularly in older athletes. OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE HIP Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition resulting from wear and tear in the hip. The cartilage that covers the hip joint facilitates movement, so when this degenerates, mobility reduces while pain and stiffness increases. FRONT THIGH PAIN (ANTERIOR) Quadriceps strain (thigh strain) A thigh strain or quadriceps strain is a tear in one of the quadriceps muscles at the front of the thigh. It can range from mild discomfort to a full-blown tear of most of the muscle, resulting in severe pain and inability to walk. Symptoms typically include: Sudden sharp pain at the front of the thigh.Swelling.
CALCANEAL STRESS FRACTURE Calcaneal stress fracture treatment. Rest – if a stress fracture is suspected, then complete rest is advised for 6 to 8 weeks. Stay off your feet as much as possible and refrain from any weight-bearing exercise. Use crutches if possible. VIRTUAL SPORTS INJURY CLINIC Welcome to the Virtual Sports Injury Clinic.
GROIN STRAPPING & TAPING Then pass the bandage around the back of the thigh and around the groin once more applying tension to the front and upwards on the groin. Again, pass around the back and repeat this as required or until the bandage runs out. Follow the same pattern with a roll of 2.5cm zinc oxide tape. Start on the inside of the groin, pass aroundthe thigh
CARDIAC CHEST PAIN IN ATHLETES Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death in the sporting population. HCM is a disease of the cardiac (heart) muscle resulting in an enlarged (hypertrophied) left ventricle wall. HCM is divided into two types – obstructive and non-obstructive. Obstructive HMC refers to the obstruction of theblood flow
MEDIAL ELBOW PAIN (INSIDE ELBOW) Biceps tendonitis is an overuse injury causing pain and inflammation on the inside/front of the elbow. Patellofemoral pain is often worse PATELLAR TENDON MASSAGE Apply gentle pressure to the thigh muscles, just above the patella. This has the effect of tilting the bottom of the patella upwards. As a result, the point at where the tendon attaches to the patella is exposed and more easily accessed. Then apply gentle cross friction massage techniques forwards and backwards across the tendon. PAIN BEHIND KNEE (POSTERIOR KNEE PAIN) The Popliteus is a small muscle located at the back of the knee. The muscle, or tendon can be torn, especially from twisting activities, or injuried through overuse. Symptoms may include: Acute (sudden onset), or gradual onset pain behind the knee. The back of your knee will feel tender when pressing in. VIRTUAL SPORTS INJURY CLINIC Welcome to the Virtual Sports Injury Clinic. Complete rest for the first 48 hours, after that, let pain be the guide to the speed GROIN STRAIN DIAGNOSIS & ASSESSMENT A Grade 1 strain is a minor tear where less than 25% of fibers are damaged. You will most likely have discomfort in the groin area, but be able to walk with little or no pain. Often it is not possible to recall the exact point of injury as your pain may only be noticeable after exercise. If you press into (palpate) the muscle it may feeltight
FOOT ARCH PAIN
A Plantar fascia strain is a strain of the plantar fascia which forms the arch of the foot. It might result from one single traumatic incident, resulting in sudden pain, or may gradually occur over a period of time through overuse. Symptoms include localised tenderness and pain over the plantar fascia. You may have a nodule or lump, wherethe

There is likely to be swelling in the wrist, reduced grip strength and BROKEN HAND (METACARPAL FRACTURE) Symptoms will depend on which type of fracture you have. In general broken hand symptoms include: Sudden, severe pain in the hand. Common specific locations are at the base of the thumb and on the outside (little finger side) of the hand. Trying to move your hand will be painful. Swelling will usually develop rapidly. Later, bruising mydevelop.
More on Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome.SUPRASPINATUS TEAR
