The 2019 expedition fee is $13,800 CAD or $10,900 USD. As a non-profit organization we aim to keep costs for youth as low as possible and therefore expedition staff also pay the expedition fee (or part thereof) to participate. Experience shows that staff gain asSTUDENTS ON ICE

Tara joined the Students on Ice Foundation in 2016 when drawn to work on Canada C3, Coast to Coast to Coast, quite the immersion for this new Canadian. On May 18, 2006, not only did he fulfill his dreams, he also became the youngest Canadian to have climbed to the top of the world. Ever since Jean-François Carrey was a young boy he wanted to climb Mount Everest. On May 18, 2006, not only did he fulfill his dreams, he also became the youngest Canadian to have climbed to the top of the world. Students on Ice staff teams are carefully built for each expedition in order to create the most powerful learning experience for youth participants and the overall team. Specific expertise relevant to the Polar Regions or formal training as an educator is desirable but not required to participate as a member of the expedition staff team.STUDENTS ON ICE

David Fletcher. David Fletcher has spent the last 39 years in the polar regions, including 4 winters and 35 summers. He spent fifteen years with the British Antarctic Survey (B.A.S.) as a dog driver, Base Commander and Field Operations Manager. David is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and was awarded the prestigious Polar Medal.STUDENTS ON ICE
Mary Simon, OC, QC, comes from Kuujjuaq, Nunavik (Arctic Quebec). She was recently appointed by the Government of Canada as a Special Representative to the Minister of Indigenous & Northern Affairs. Sara Holzman. Sara grew up in Ottawa but has called Iqaluit home for eleven years. She developed her love for the outdoors, nature, and the environment from spending summers at the cottage.
