OAK CLIFF NATURE PRESERVE Oak Cliff Nature Preserve (OCNP) is a 121-acre oasis of green space located right in the middle of urban Dallas. There are over eight miles of multi-use hike and bike trails coursing through the Preserve. In mid-April, TLC had the opportunity to witness our 9-acre unplowed coastal prairie, Marysee Prairie (MSP), undergo a prescribed burn. Historically these coastal prairies were wide ranging all the way up and down the coast of Texas, but the advent of the cow and plow 396 ACRES OF WILDLIFE HABITAT PROTECTED FOREVERSEE MORE ON TEXASLANDCONSERVANCY.ORG OPEN PRESERVE DAY AT LOS RINCONES On Saturday, May 11th, TLC is hosting an Open Preserve Day at our Los Rincones preserve in southwest Kerrville. Normally closed to the public, its steep limestone canyons are home to the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler and a diversity of native grasses, flowers,cacti, and trees.

A conversation with Josie Gutierrez and Bianca Guevara will make you believe anything is possible—especially when the following are in play: 1) a passion for the outdoors, 2) a love of community, and 3) the hard work of dedicated volunteers. Both Gutierrez and Guevara are leaders in Latino Outdoors (LO) Texas, an MANAGING FOR NATIVE POLLINATORS This can also apply to planting projects. If you don’t have the space or budget to plant large areas for pollinators, even small patches can provide benefits. 4) Embrace a little mess (even if only in areas you can’t see). Standing dead trees, dead branches, rotting logs, and brush or wood piles provide nesting sites for many nativebees.

The Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana) is the only marsupial found north of Mexico. It is typically referred to simply as a possum, and it is a solitary and nocturnal animal about the size of a domestic cat.
