THE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM As Director of the Bureau Local, Megan built the Bureau Local’s collaborative, bottom-up investigations team and has overseen all of its collaborative investigations since 2017. This has resulted in over 500 local, investigative stories and was done in partnership with 1,500 collaborators across the UK. HIGH COURT JUDGE QUESTIONS INTEGRITY OF BUSINESSMAN BEHIND There are fresh questions over a businessman who raised hundreds of millions of pounds from local authorities after a high court judge raised doubts over his integrity and ruled that a prospectus issued to raise some of that money contained “clear untruths.” REVEALED: THE THOUSANDS OF PUBLIC SPACES LOST TO THE For almost 60 years the club was based in Nechells Green Community Centre, in the Nechells district of inner-city Birmingham. In 2016 the Holts - Mark, his dad Derek, 77, and his uncle Ernie, 81 - were told by the council the club would have to vacate the building so it couldbe auctioned off.

Drone Warfare. Between 2010 and 2020 the Bureau tracked US drone strikes and other covert actions in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia. The comprehensive reporting on civilian deaths helped lead to greater official transparency on targeted killing, and WHAT IS AFFORDABLE HOUSING? A BUREAU GUIDE The government allocates a Housing Grant to build affordable homes. The current four-year settlement is worth £4.5bn. This is a 60% reduction on the previous allocation. The grant works out on average at £20,000 per home or 14% of its cost, according to a recent London School of Economics report. INSIDE THE CORPORATE INVESTIGATIONS BUSINESS K2 is the legacy business from Kroll. It is run by Jeremy Kroll, the son of Kroll’s founder, although 76 year old Jules is also involved. K2 has become one of the leaders in modernising the investigations industry. The firm now offers a rating agency for the bond markets similar to Fitch or Standard and Poor’s, and was one of the first to JBS: THE BRAZILIAN BUTCHERS WHO TOOK OVER THE WORLD The investigation also uncovered footage of a Temer aide carrying a suitcase containing nearly $150,000, allegedly handed over by JBS. IMMIGRATION OFFICERS ACCUSED OF RACIAL PROFILING AS THEY A previous Bureau and Bristol Cable investigation found a fifth of people stopped by immigration enforcement operations between 2012 and 2017 were British citizens. MPs and human rights lawyers said this suggested racial profiling was taking place and called for the Home Office to review its procedures.
