DEVELOPING FILM AT RETAIL AND DRUGSTORES Big-name drugstores like CVS and Walgreens still develop film, but the days of 1-hour photo processing are long gone. Today, nearly all the big box stores send the film to third-party labs, with turnaround time ranging from three to five days at Walgreens and two to three weeks at CVS. Even more important, they no longer return the negatives ACCIDENTALLY EXPOSED FILM… WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? THE A Canon Elan7 with a 36 exposure 35mm roll of Lomo800 film was accidentally dropped 0n the 36th frame. The camera back opened up, exposing the film to bright sunlight. Yikes! CINESTILL 50D 35MM & 120 FILM REVIEW Cinestill 50D which is a daylight color balanced color negative motion picture film. The remjet backing has been removed making easily developed as c-41 and gives a unique halation effect. It’s an incredibly fine grained film with unrivaled exposure latitude which is why we recommend erring on overexposure when shooting this film. SFX 200 FILM REVIEWS & PHOTOS SFX is often overshadowed by @ilfordphoto’s extensive B&W lineup. It shouldn’t be though - SFX is a great B&W white film that has a high sensitivity to red which in the right settings can mimic infrared. TRI-X 400 FILM REVIEWS & PHOTOS Tri-X 400 one of the most popular over films, not just in black and white, but of all film. It’s known for its classic and absolutely beautiful grain that hasn’t changed since 1954 as well as its song contrast and rich tones. It has amazing exposure latitude which allows it to easily push up to 3 stops and also means it does well with overexposure.
A GUIDE TO CONVERTING NEGATIVES AND SLIDES 3. Use a Flatbed Scanner. A cheaper alternative is using a flatbed scanner for a decent (not great) way to digitize your slides or negatives. Because slides should be illuminated from behind, flatbed scanners capture reflected light from a document, so there will be inherent limitations in quality, lighting and resolution, likely requiring Photoshop or photo software to tweak cropping TIPS ON HOW TO STORE PHOTOGRAPHY FILM, MORE THAN REFRIGERATOR Head to the Freezer for Long-term Storage. If you buy in bulk or taking a photography break, use the freezer (-18°C / 0°F or lower) for periods over six months. Storing film in the freezer puts it into hibernation. For best results and to protect against humidity, it’s recommended you should store film unopened and in its originalcanister.
