HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT WATERCOLOR COLOR CHART There is 1/16″ of space between the 1/8″ guidelines. The space at the top is for a title! Next, use a pencil and a ruler to divide your guidelines depending on how many columns of colors you have. I have 12 columns of colors, so I divided my chart accordingly. The first may be that you have not prepared your nib for use; or you might be holding your pen too upright. This A GUIDE TO CLEANING CALLIGRAPHY NIBS Oblique pens will be tricker, and you’re probably best off just leaving the flange nib-free for a while to dry and hoping for the best! As for the nib, it’s easier to clean than the pen. Just dip the nib in water, dry it off well, and once the pen has dried, reinsert the nib. 4. Dry Off Nibs With a Non-Fibrous Cloth. HOW TO SPACE CALLIGRAPHY ON ENVELOPES Make one now, and you can use it to space calligraphy for years to come! As far as the actual distance between lines, that’s personal preference. I generally make my guidelines 1/2″ tall (measurement from bottom guideline to top guideline), and I allow a little over 1/8″ of space between groups of guidelines. 2. 6 ART + CALLIGRAPHY PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS FROM A DIY If you opt for a side view, make sure you take quite a few photos (at least 5). As I said, hands on the camera can lead to blurry photos. The more photos you take, the more chances you’ll have of getting a nice, clear photo like the one above. 3. WHY, WHEN, AND HOW TO DILUTE INK Use a blunt syringe or a small spoon to transfer a tiny bit of water (three drops or so) into the ink. Add a small quantity of water to the ink to start. It’s easy to overdo it! Then, use a stir stick, toothpick, or chopstick to mix it up.
