The design of the Collaborative reflects insights from the external evaluation about the significance of field research for early-career scholars and opportunities for better LATIN AMERICAN NGOS MOBILIZE TO ADDRESS COVID-19 Chequeado, a fact-checking and journalism organization based in Argentina, has launched a new site to inform the public and address misinformation about the novel coronavirus. Using the YoLoChequeo tool, social media users can fact-check rumors and potential misinformation. Chequeado has also launched a regional fact-checking effort with more than 20 organizations throughout Latin REMOTE LEARNING WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS The 2016 Peace Accords provided some optimism for the future and the reduction of violence opened spaces for civil society to focus on the region’s development. Motete, one of those civil society organizations, has helped propel the community forward with film festivals, book fairs, and art exhibitions that spotlight Afro-Colombian and Indigenous artists and creatives. INTERVIEW WITH WOMEN’S JUSTICE INITIATIVE ER: Women’s Justice Initiative (WJI) is an organization that improves the lives of indigenous girls, adolescents, and women in isolated rural communities where they have limited access to public services. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS The Tinker Foundation will allocate up to $500,000 in uncommitted funds for this initiative. Grants will be for projects of up to 12 months duration. TINKER VISITING PROFESSORS The program has two complementary objectives: to enhance the experience and training of students and scholars in U.S. universities, and to enable leaders from Latin America amplify their work and extend their professional networks. Since the inception of the program, more than 400 Tinker Visiting Professors have participated in the program. LATIN AMERICAN NGOS MOBILIZE TO ADDRESS COVID-19 Chequeado, a fact-checking and journalism organization based in Argentina, has launched a new site to inform the public and address misinformation about the novel coronavirus. Using the YoLoChequeo tool, social media users can fact-check rumors and potential misinformation.
