STATISTICS - TIMBER TRADE FEDERATION - TTF Insights and Stats from the UK Timber Trade Industry. Since 2006, we have produced a comprehensive annual breakdown of the UK timber industry, published in our annual Statistical Review. Both our annual review and monthly timber statistics feature key import and export data and trends for the main timber and panel products consumed in theUK.
SPAN TABLES
The following span tables are indicative of some of the spans required for domestic floor joists where C16 and C24 strength classes are used. They refer to a dead load of not more than 0.5kN/m 2 (excluding the weight of the joist) and an imposed load not exceeding 1.5 kN/m 2. Always consult Eurocode 5 Span Tables when calculating spans.TIMBER FIXINGS
Bolts should be tightened so that the members fit closely. If the wood shrinks in service, the bolts should be re-tightened. Always use a washer under any head or nut in contact with the timber or steel. The diameter of the washer should be at least three times the bolt’s. Its thickness should be at least 0.3 times the bolt’s diameter. EUTR - TIMBER TRADE FEDERATION EUTR and the UK Timber Trade Federation. EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) is an essential element of the EU’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan. Since entering force in 2013, this legislation requires all companies who are ‘placing’ timber and timber products on the EU single market to undergo and implement a Due Diligence system.MERCHANT NEWS

There are two types of products used in wood finishing: Stains, which are used to colour the timber substrate but have no film build and offer limited protection. The combined organisation will have a base of over 1500 members, stretching from forest owners through to architects and specifiers.SPAN TABLES
The following span tables are indicative of some of the spans required for domestic floor joists where C16 and C24 strength classes are used. They refer to a dead load of not more than 0.5kN/m 2 (excluding the weight of the joist) and an imposed load not exceeding 1.5 kN/m 2. Always consult Eurocode 5 Span Tables when calculating spans.SUSTAINABILITY
Absorb Carbon. Wood is the only truly sustainable and renewable building material. By choosing to build with sustainable timber, businesses are helping to preserve and grow the worlds forests, and combat climate change. Trees absorbs carbon dioxide while theySTRENGTH GRADING
Visual strength grading uses the grader’s experience to assess each piece of timber according to rules that define the size, type and number of strength-reducing characteristics allowed in each grade. Natural strength-reducing features include knots, wane (the uneven edge caused by a residue of bark) and the slope of the grain. DUE DILIGENCE TOOLKIT Learn the essentials of Due Diligence. This free interactive step-by-step toolkit will help you complete Due Diligence on your timber imports, and comes with a free reporting template to get you started. Simply follow the flow chart steps, answer the questions in the space provided, add explanations where required, and save yourwork.
