One of the factors that seems to have stymied the growth of foot launch flight is a lack of instructors and schools in the majority of the country. My aim in this article is to discuss how relatively easy it can be to set up and operate a flight school, as either a primary or second-income business. HANG GLIDING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Hang gliders can be launched, flown and landed in winds from 0 to about 30 mph for experienced pilots, and 0 to around 18 mph for novice pilots. Generally, ideal winds for launching and landing are from 5 to 20 mph depending on the flying site, and 0 to around 10 mph for beginner students learning to handle the glider on a training hill.
