How much does a service dog cost? All services are provided at no cost to clients — this includes your dog, transportation to and from our campus in Smithtown, New York, instruction, and more. AMERICAS VETDOGS FREEDOM RACE SERIES SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Please consider one of our sponsorship packages for the America's VetDogs Freedom Run &Dog Walk Race Series. Past year's events have attracted thousands of participants, volunteers and spectators, and raised more than $60,000, placing assistance dogs with veterans who have disabilities. MILITARY FACILITY DOG Military Facility Dog America's VetDogs has trained and placed Military Facility Dogs to provide animal assisted intervention to wounded soldiers and active duty personnel during their journey to recovery at military installations, military and VA medical centers, and VA nursing homes. PTSD SERVICE DOGS FOR VETERANS On-class Training During the first week of class, students are introduced to basic obedience and commands, ways to motivate and reward their dogs and service dog handling techniques in preparation for receiving their new PTSD service dog. PRISON PUPPY PROGRAM Socialization, puppy development, behavior theory, animal husbandry, grooming, and first aid are all part of the VetDogs curriculum as well. PRISON PUPPY PROGRAM Socialization, puppy development, behavior theory, animal husbandry, grooming, and first aid are all part of the VetDogs curriculum as well. A typical class is broken down into a brief question and answer period, a lecture, a demonstration by each handler of the dog’s skills and finally a period of group training. For the next 14 - 16 months, your organization can be part of the America’s VetDogs “puppy raising team” to help a puppy become either a guide or service dog for a veteran or first responder. NCMS_PRESIDENTMESSAGE The second opportunity came in 2015, and NCMS selected "Hickok" as the second puppy's name in honor of Dr. James Hickok. Hickok graduated in 2017 and was also placed with a veteran. And in October 2017, NCMS selected its third puppy in training and named him "Buckels" after NCMS past president Lonnie Buckels. As of June 2019, Buckels graduated RESPONSE TO NEW DELTA SERVICE ANIMAL REQUIREMENTS STATEMENT On January 19, 2018, Delta airlines announced it would institute new requirements for passengers flying with service animals.
