WATER WELLS
Water for South Sudan's operations teams, based in Wau, work in remote villages in the Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan. These isolated villages have extremely limited access to clean water, and often can only access contaminated water that will lead to sickness or evendeath.

Before WFSS drilled a well and built latrines at Zogolona, children would often miss lessons because they had to walk 30 minutes on average to find drinking water or to relieve themselves in the bush. Now, with access to a latrine, the school day is not interrupted and learning is the main focus! THE NEED — WATER FOR SOUTH SUDAN The Republic of South Sudan is now one of the world's poorest countries. South Sudan’s environment is starkly beautiful but harsh. It has just two seasons: one dramatically wet, the other dry with temperatures often rising above 120°F during both seasons. During the rainy season, water is plentiful for villagers, their crops, and theiranimals.

Water for Sudan was founded as a 501 (c) (3) organization in 2003, the name was changed to Water for South Sudan in 2011 when South Sudan gained its independence. In 2005, Salva returned to his home to drill the first well for his father. With clean, fresh water Salva’s father survived his waterborne disease and is still living today.WFSS VIDEOS
