What Milwaukee homeowners (and those who want to be) should know PHOTO: BLUE-GREEN ALGAE BLOOMS IN DANE COUNTY WATERS Darren Jenkins, 24, wades out of Lake Monona in Madison, Wis., with an empty fishing basket after two hours angling for bluegill near Hudson Park. The park’s lake entry point and four other beaches around the county were closed on June 4 due to blooms of blue-green algae, which can be toxic to humans and pets. “I feel like it gets worse every year,” Jenkins said. He says he often eats fish from the lake with little concern for PFAS concentrations — another concern in Dane County’s waters.RECENT STORIES
