Reimagining the Swan HANDWRITTEN LOGOS, A DESIGN COLLECTION Here’s a selection of famous trademarks in a handwritten style. Davidoff. Designer: Zino Davidoff, in 1968–1969. Zino Davidoff was born on March 11, 1906, in Kiev, and died in 1994 at the age of 87. Davidoff made it his business to upgrade cigar smoking, and every cigar from the company carries a label with Zino’s signature. HOBO SIGNS AND SYMBOLS, CODE FOR THE ROAD Translations for some commonly used signs: A cross — “angel food” (food served to hobos after a sermon). A triangle with hands — the homeowner has a gun. A horizontal zigzag — a barking dog. A square missing its top line — safe to camp in that spot. A top hat and a triangle — wealth. A spearhead — a warning to defendyourself.

The classic dog bone logo from late 1955 was the first time the logo was standardised in design and colour. It was used across all toys lines and appears widely on both plastic and wooden toys. The German LEGO logo, 1956. LALE CHILDREN’S CHANNEL, UKRAINE Lale is the first children's channel to broadcast in the Crimean Tatar language in southern Ukraine. The logo was designed by Art Lebedev. TOP SYMBOLS & TRADEMARKS OF THE WORLD The title was released in 1973 as a set of seven books, with another four volumes published in the late seventies and early eighties. RETHINKING IKEA’S LOGO Namely colour and bold type. We refined the type to more closely align with the original Futura Press font (avoiding Verdana at all cost). We felt this cleaner typographic treatment was more suited to the aesthetic of IKEA’s products. Similarly, by continuing to use the core brand colours we ensure that the logo remains instantlyidentifiable.

HOBO SIGNS AND SYMBOLS, CODE FOR THE ROAD Translations for some commonly used signs: A cross — “angel food” (food served to hobos after a sermon). A triangle with hands — the homeowner has a gun. A horizontal zigzag — a barking dog. A square missing its top line — safe to camp in that spot. A top hat and a triangle — wealth. A spearhead — a warning to defendyourself.
EVOLUTION OF THE LEGO LOGO The original appears to be hand-drawn and differs on various boxes from early 1955. 1955-1959. HANDWRITTEN LOGOS, A DESIGN COLLECTION Here’s a selection of famous trademarks in a handwritten style. Davidoff. Designer: Zino Davidoff, in 1968–1969. Zino Davidoff was born on March 11, 1906, in Kiev, and died in 1994 at the age of 87. Davidoff made it his business to upgrade cigar smoking, and every cigar from the company carries a label with Zino’s signature. RETHINKING IKEA’S LOGO Namely colour and bold type. We refined the type to more closely align with the original Futura Press font (avoiding Verdana at all cost). We felt this cleaner typographic treatment was more suited to the aesthetic of IKEA’s products. The inspiration came from Chi-Chi: a giant panda that had arrived at the London Zoo in the year 1961, when WWF was being created. Aware of the need for a strong, recognisable symbol that would overcome all language barriers, WWF's founders agreed that the big, furry animal with her appealing, black-patched eyes would make an excellent logo.
