ROY DUNN - HUMANS
I love photographing humans. Well, adults, to be more accurate, and I approach it a little differently from most photographers. To begin with, I have no interest or attachment to the images I create. ROY DUNN - HUMMINGBIRDS IN NATURE Overview Video. Gear and Techniques. Prints for Purchase. Contact. Hummingbirds in Nature. While all of my hummingbird photography is done 'in nature' - i.e. they are completely free and wild, only sometimes do I actually shoot them in front of foliage. This is for several reasons: 1) Everybody else does that - the internet aboundswith
ROY DUNN - ROY
Roy officially retired from his high tech career, and has since pursued his lifelong passion of photography full time, as a photographer, teacher and consultant. He contributes time and effort to Cognisys Inc. – a photographic technology company, as well as consulting for Hadland Imaging Inc. - a global high speed imagingcompany.
ROY DUNN - CAMERA TRAPPING - HUMANS TO HUMMINGBIRDS I define camera trapping several ways: and truly, it is a combination of all three. While a lot of technology is employed in using a camera trap, by far the most important aspect (as with any photography) is lighting. Probably 80% of setup time is taken with the positioning of the light source (s). Yes, we have to mount transmitters, receivers ROY DUNN - CAMERA TRAPPING MOUNTAIN LIONS Most of my photography over the last few years has centred around camera trapping mountain lions in Southern California. We are fortunate to have a small population in the urban areas surrounding Los Angeles - The Santa Monica Mountains, the Verdugo Mountains, Antelope Valley, Simi Valley and even the celebrity icon 'P22' in Griffith Park above Hollywood. ROY DUNN - CAMERA TRAPPING OTHER ANIMALS Camera Trapping Other Animals. This is a larger gallery, as there are many, many animals I have camera trapped over the years. Feel free to scroll down, and enlarge any you want a closer look at. Simply click on the image to do so. Carolina Wren in Snow at Dusk. High speed flashand ambient.

The human form is a wonderful canvas to play with as a photographer - we can create very cryptic images that the viewer knows is a part or whole of a human, but has a hard time figuring out exactly what theyare looking at.

The hit-rate of getting interacting, flying birds in the same frame, in focus, in a reasonably acceptable composition is about 1 in 12,000. Most sane people would think that is dogged insanity. ROY DUNN - GEAR AND TECHNIQUES In terms of photographic gear for camera trapping, I use Canon 5DsR's for stills, and Sony A7S II's for video.
