The weather app on my phone confirmed the “hazardous” air. Then it hit me. The cremations. The non-stop burning of bodies in my city that has overflowed into parks and parking lots has the sky full of ash. IMB RAMPS UP EFFORTS TO REACH 500 NEW MISSIONARIES TARGET In January 2020, IMB President Paul Chitwood announced 2025 Targets built around the International Mission Board’s vision and mission to engage unreached people and places over the next five years. Historically, volunteer teams from U.S. churches have also journeyed to the Olympics and played active roles in both the Summer and Winter Olympics ministry strategies of IMB missionaries and national partners. IMB missionaries in Tokyo, Japan, developed evangelism and outreach plans utilizing both FIRST-TIME GIVERS HELP PUSH MISSIONS OFFERING PAST GOAL Over 430 first-time givers contributed to Houston’s First Baptist Church’s missions offering this year. HFBC had a goal to give $1,400,000 to missions through the offering. Once it was counted, gifts totaled $2,628,946 — a new record for the church and more than $1,200,000 over the goal. The funding came from 2,820 donors. One million dollars of the offering was given to the STUDENTS MOBILIZED TO ‘GO CHANGE __________’S WORLD’ AT The International Mission Board is introducing the first annual REV 7:9 conference to be held on Dec. 29-31, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. “Go change _____’s world,” will be the theme of the conference, a missions movement for 18–25-year-olds. MARTHA MYERS
Called as a little girl to missions, Martha Myers did not know she would die for taking the gospel to the Muslim people of Yemen, but anyone who knew her said she wouldn’t have minded giving her life in this way. Martha is a modern-day martyr. She served in Yemen for 25 years as a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology. As such, she delivered hundreds of babies, but she was even better known THE MISSION FIELD NEEDS ESL TEACHERS. IMB JOINS JAPANESE CHRISTIANS FOR OLYMPICS OUTREACH Every four years, athletes and spectators descend on the cities hosting the Olympic games. Historically, volunteer teams from U.S. churches have also journeyed to the Olympics and played active roles in both the Summer and Winter Olympics ministry strategies of IMB missionaries and national partners.
