UNCUT GEMS | MOVIE REVIEW Uncut Gems is a crime thriller film staring Adam Sandler and directed by the Safdie Brothers. Unfortunately, Uncut Gems was plagued with an intriguing and unique release schedule.FORD V FERRARI
One thing stands in their way: Ferrari was, at the time, considered unbeatable. Enter some company favoritism, some elitism, a greedy, smug-faced, upper-management know-it-all, a tested friendship and you’ve got yourself an Academy Award winning movie called Ford v Ferrari.. I have two major problems with Ford v Ferrari: its runtime and its somewhat misuse of creative liberties.TRIAL BY MEDIA
This post is going to be dedicated to the latter of the two aforementioned examples. Trial By Media is a six-episode docuseries focused on some of the most controversial “courtroom dramas” of the 1980s and 90s. Before you get excited, it seems to have forgotten the absolute most controversial “courtroom drama” of the time: The OJ Simpson murder trial. MY THOUGHTS FROM 2015: THE ENDLESS FLOW OF SOCIETY It is that how society, the river, can be reshaped by the individuals, the water. It is that how society can be reshaped and re-dominated by new ideas or a shift within the majority of what society had created itself. Now, on that topic, the “idea”, if you will, that every majority is perhaps a good change is incredibly mistaken. J. L. GRANATSTEIN AND THE MESSAGE OF MULTICULTURALISM IN J. L. This past week, the National Football League (NFL) announced that all team members and league personnel on the field “shall stand and show respect for the flag” at the beginning of every game as the national Anthem plays. The new policy threatens to fine teams composed of players who decide to “disrespect” the flag by Continue Reading›› TRUMP’S RACIST COMMENTS ON AFRICAN, CARIBBEAN NATIONS PUT HIM ON THE UNITED NATION’S HOTSEATJANUARY 13, 2018
Trump makes rather embarrassing international headlines yet again with his racist remarks against immigrants who come from “shithole” nations in Africa and the Caribbean. America was based on the idea of diversity, a country that birthed itself from a revolutionary concept that swept the late 18th century and led to the “democratic” so-called American values Continue Reading›› UNIFIED IN MISERY, DIVIDED BY DISCRIMINATION: AN ANALYSIS OF COHEN’S “MAKING A NEW DEAL”NOVEMBER 17, 2017
Previously on this site, I published a rather short book review on Lizabeth Cohen’s “Making a New Deal”. Much like I enjoyed reading the book twice, I’ve enjoyed writing about it twice. In what ways were workers united and divided before the Great Depression? How did labor gain and fail to advance under the New Deal legislation? Here’s an Continue Reading›› CATALONIA AND THE INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT IN EUROPEOCTOBER 4, 2017
I haven’t discussed much on the Catalan referendum and the quest for independence in Spain’s wealthiest region; but I do believe it’s an important discussion to have. If you haven’t been paying much attention to world news, I do suggest reading on and finding other news articles on the subject afterwards. It’s an intriguing and Continue Reading›› HOW DID PROGRESSIVE REFORMS AFFECT THE POWER OF PARTY BOSSES?JULY 20, 2017
The main objective of the Progressive movement was to eliminate the corruption seen throughout the American government. Targeting political machines and their corporate bosses, the Progressives believed that by taking down corrupt representatives, America could finally establish a direct democracy. Another main goal of the Progressive movement was to regulate monopolies and bust up the trusts Continue Reading›› CORPORATISM, THE POLITICAL ZOMBIEJULY 19, 2017
The Democratic Party elites and corporatist shills have spent the last few months preaching “unity” and “moving forward” while hypocritically bashing the progressive wing that has proven itself to be necessary in order to win actual elections. Let me be frank: the Democratic Party, the political affiliation I have found myself to beapart of in the

What should be considered an impeachable offense by a sitting U.S. President? Violating the U.S. Constitution? A scandal of international proportions? A war justified by lies and waged on innocent people? Murdering innocent people and children remotely using drones? Using the office of President to directly and indirectly from the federal government? According to the Continue Reading›› THE RESISTANCE: A FAILING NEOLIBERAL FRACTUREJULY 2, 2017
There’s been a lot of talk about the alt-right in recent months. We’ve had our eyes on the current disaster laid out by neocons and neocon-lites that we haven’t really had much time to analyze the differences between the ‘fracturing left’. A long time ago on the site, I talked about how political parties can Continue Reading›› HALF THE SKY: EMANCIPATION, RIGHTS, AND EDUCATING WOMENJUNE 25, 2017
Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide is an intriguing book – published in 2009 – that became the perfect candidate for a contemporary movie on ‘rights’. Essentially, the film (and book) showcases the stories of women of all backgrounds from across the globe in an attempt to showcase “gender-based crimes” that Continue Reading›› TRUMP’S TURNKEY TYRANNY AND OBAMA’S DRONESFEBRUARY 3, 2017
We must not propagate Barack Obama’s eight year tenure as President until we understand the consequences behind everything in his term. Democrats – do not shout about how 44 was the “greatest president in recent memory” just yet. Republicans – do not refer to how 44 was the “worst president in American history” just yet…or Continue Reading›› MEH! TED CRUZ AND BERNIE SANDERS DEBATE ON OBAMACAREFEBRUARY 2, 2017
If you would have told me this time last year that Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders were going to debate over the topic of Obamacare, I would have leaped for joy. I was a very strong supporter for Bernie Sanders and a very strong mocker of Ted Cruzduring the 2016

It appears to be that Donald Trump’s administration can’t grasp the reality of what the Department of Justice is supposed to do. Like any authoritarian leader rooted in widespread fear and closely cornered narcissism, Donald Trump has failed to differentiate what it means to pledge allegiance to the constitution and to pledge allegiance to himself. Well, like any fine Continue Reading››View More ››

THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BOOKS IN HISTORYMAY 26, 2018
What do you consider the most influential books in history? As simple as that question may sound, it can be a rather controversial one. Are you interested in the sciences, the humanities, or a mixture of both? Personally, good philosophic or historical reads trump any other – although I do enjoy the occasional science fiction novel Continue Reading››BREAKING NEWS

NEW YELLOW JOURNALISM: CLICKBAIT AND GIF-BAITINGAPRIL 4, 2018
A major problem is that many people don’t have the time to digest long-winded articles anymore. Just in time for the holidays, popular retailer Toys ‘R Us opened their primitive website, which just could not stand against the Continue Reading››BREAKING NEWS

2017 ARTICLE AWARDS: PERSONAL FAVORITES FROM JOSEPHKAMINSKI.ORGDECEMBER 20, 2017
It has now been around four – closer to five, at this point – years since I’ve started “blogging”. I oftentimes refer to posts on this site as “articles” rather than “blogs”, mostly out of spite for the atmosphere WordPress and Tumblr have created around the activity. In 2013, I helped write The French Turmoil: Vive La France!, an eleven-part Continue Reading››SOCIOLOGY
BLAST FROM THE PAST: ZOMBIES ATE MY NEIGHBORS AND NINTENDO’SCENSORSHIP

Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a typical run-and-gun video game that was developed by LucasArts for the Super NES and Sega Genesis consoles in 1993. The game featured both a single and a local multiplayer method of playing, in which players could take control of one or two fictional protagonists to rescue their no-named, pixelated Continue Reading››BOOK REVIEWS

BOOK REVIEW: 1864, LINCOLN AT THE GATES OF HISTORYNOVEMBER 2, 2017
1864: Lincoln at the Gates of History is a work that covers what one may consider as one of the most decisive years of Lincoln’s presidential terms. Charles Bracelen Flood wrote the book, and publishing began in 2009. On November 4, 1929, Charles Flood was born in New York. He graduated from Harvard in 1952 Continue Reading››BOOK REVIEWS
BOOK REVIEW: MAKING A NEW DEAL BY LIZABETH COHENNOVEMBER 1, 2017
History in general is stained with tales of greatness…tales that that play off the harsh climate of sociopolitical and economic turmoil and celebrate the ingenuity or ‘progress’ made in a world that lacked connections to modern society. It is within Making a New Deal: Industrial Workers in Chicago 1919-1939 that Cohen tackles the myth of Continue Reading››View More ››
