With careful refining, the addition of colours and metallic powders, it is transformed into a material which when dried and polished, obtains a highly polished surface.HEAVY METAL

SHOHEI’s work is political, stark and uncompromising in its strident comments on contemporary Japanese (read international) culture. Familiar and beloved symbols of Japan’s much admired traditional culture cavort with icons of the contemporary age, a tense, dark melange that is MAIO MOTOKO : EXTRAORDINARY PERSPECTIVESLESLEY KEHOE Maio Motoko has recreated the traditional Japanese folding screen giving it new life in a contemporary international context. She has moved beyond boundaries of time, space, form and culture. She will undoubtedly be recognized as one of the great artists of the 21st century. Mitsuo’s contemporary practice consists primarily of elegantly powerful hand built sculptural forms and mixed media paintings. His signature ceramic technique, one he says is still emerging, is a continuing evolution of ‘zogan’ , the inlaying of coloured materials in the main ceramic body.
