The Day the Universe Exploded My Head: Poems to Take You into Spaceand Back Again
written by Allan Wolf with illustrations byAnna Raff - Poetry
Ever wonder what the sun has to say about being the closest star to Earth? Or what Pluto has gotten up to since being demoted to a dwarf planet? Listen closely, because maybe, just maybe, your head will explode, too. With poetry that is equal parts accurate and entertaining --- and illustrations that are positively out of this world --- this book will enthrall amateur stargazers and budding astrophysicists as it reveals many of the wonders our universe holds. Space travelers in search of more information will find notes about the poems, a glossary and a list of resources at the end. Sal and Gabi Break the Universe (A Sal and Gabi Novel, Book 1) by Carlos Hernandez - Science Fiction Gabi is determined to prove that somehow, Sal planted a raw chicken in Yasmany's locker. Sal prides himself on being an excellent magician, but for this sleight of hand, he relied on a talent no one would guess...except maybe Gabi, whose sharp eyes never miss a trick. When Gabi learns that he's capable of conjuring things much bigger than a chicken --- including his dead mother --- and she takes it all in stride, Sal knows that she is someone he can work with. There's only one slight problem: their manipulation of time and space could put the entire universe at risk. 100 Years of Children's Book Week Posters by Leonard S. While the posters within these pages are linked in their resounding advocacy for young people's literacy, they are distinguished by the styles and mediums of their creators and by the historical, social and cultural influences of their times. Renowned historian Leonard S. Marcus traces these developments in the children's book field with incisive descriptions to accompany each poster.
