Birds of India provides information on Indian birds and on birding in India. Launched as 'Birds of Kolkata' in 2001, it is a birding resource containing images, checklists, trip reports, hotspots & much more. The site is educational and the expectation is to generate awareness and interest in the avian wealth of India to aidconservation.

Introduction Thattekad or Thattekkadu Bird Sanctuary is located in south-west India, in Kerala's Ernakulam District. It is the only bird sanctuary in Kerala and was set up in 1983. Situated between two branches of the Periyar River, Thattekad is a hotspot of endemism and is famed for its bird diversity. BIRDS OF DIBRU-SAIKHOWA Introduction Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is located on the floodplains of the Debang, Lohit, Dibru and the Brahmaputra Rivers and spreads over the Dirugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam. This 340 sq. km. sanctuary located on the south bank of The Brahmaputra is characterized by old growth semi-evergreen forests, deciduous forests, littoral and swamp forests and patches of wet evergreen forests. BIRDS OF RANGANATHITTU Introduction Small can be beautiful, and that aptly describes the 0.67 Sq.Km Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary which is located in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district of the state of Karnataka in India. The sanctuary comprises of 6 Islands and 6 Islets in the river Kaveri which attract nearly 40,000 birds in winter. The Islets are surrounded by water of a reservoir formed by the construction of RAJAJI NATIONAL PARK BIRDS Introduction: Spread over an area of 820 sq. Kms, Rajaji National Park and Tiger Reserve is situated along the hills and foothills of Shiwalik ranges in the Himalayan foothills and represent the Shiwalik eco-system. Combining three sanctuaries, namely Chilla, Motichur and Rajaji - Rajaji National Park is spread over the Pauri Garwal, Dehradun and Saharanpur districts of Uttaranchal.BIRDS OF INDIA
