LOS ANGELES ARTCC
Los Angeles ARTCC has undergone a number of airspace procedure updates dubbed "Metroplex." The changes include new and updated arrival and departure procedures designed to make traffic more efficient within this congested space. Learn about the most common LAX arrivals and procedures and how to use them properly in the cockpit.FLIGHT PLANS
NELLIS AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL FACILITY (LSV) This SOP was originally signed by Nick Christopher, ZLA Air Traffic Manager, on 27-MAR-2018. This SOP is intended for use by controllers staffing the Nellis Air Traffic Control Facility. This SOP is the primary outline of Nellis Air Traffic Control Facility procedures. LSV_APP owns the airspace depicted on the graphic from SFC-FL190. ZLA TEC ROUTE SEARCH ZLA TEC Route Search. Aircraft Classification. J — Jet Powered. M — Turbo Props/Special (cruise speed 190 knots or greater) P — Non-Jet (cruise speed 190 knots or greater) Q — Non-Jet (cruise speed 189 knots or less) Note: TEC altitudes are written in hundreds of feet. e.g. 5,000' = 50; 10,000' = 100, etc. UNDERSTANDING SOCAL (SCT) AIRSPACE Understanding SoCal Airspace. The Southern California TRACON (abbreviated SoCal) is one of the world’s busiest TRACONs and serves more than 20 airports. You can find controllers from ZLA opening this facility on the network under the callsign SCT_APP. This means that they are covering the entire TRACON and, where there are no ground ortower
VFR PART 1: HOW TO FLY OVER LAX Hollywood Park Route This transitions just east of the airport and is available between 7000 and 10,000ft. This requires a Bravo clearance. For VATSIM purposes, contact Socal Approach (LAX_APP) on 124.50 to request this transition. Shoreline Route This takes you just west of the airport between 5500 and 6500ft. This requires a Bravo clearance.VFR CLEARANCES
VFR aircraft departing a class C airport are generally issued a clearance prior to taxi. Generally, this is done on the first radio call from the aircraft. These clearances can be very simple. In the flight plan, the departure and arrival airports, aircraft type, requested VFR altitude and beacon code need to be completed.TAKEOFF PROCEDURES
Departure Procedures and Separation — Takeoff Procedures. 1. Initial Heading. Before departure, assign the initial heading to be flown if a departing aircraft is to be vectored immediately after takeoff. The heading assigned should be in accordance with the vZLA “Assignment of Headings to Departures & Missed Approaches” SOP and the vZLA THE ART OF THE TIMELY HANDOFF JOSHUA APPROACH (PMD) 2021-02-25. 3.20. Facility Advisory Board. 1. PURPOSE. This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the procedures to be used by controllers working the High-desert TRACON (Joshua approach) to ensure that arrival flows are handled in as efficient and timely a manner as possible. 2.
